Jeffs Suffer 46-43 Setback at Skidmore

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY - The Amherst College women’s basketball team fell victim to a 14-0 run over the final 7:12 en route to a 46-43 non-conference loss at Skidmore College (6-9) on Tuesday night. Rookie point guard Shaina Pollack (Great Neck, NY) was the lone Amherst player in double figures with 10 points, while fellow first-year Matia Kostakis (Andover, MA) added nine points and 10 rebounds. The Jeffs fell to 11-5 with the loss.

Amherst led 43-32 with 7:12 left in regulation but would never score again. Meg Anderson gave Skidmore a 44-43 lead with 1:10 to play, and Lisa Mason hit a pair of free throws with 16.5 second remaining to clinch the win.

The Jeffs nearly pulled off the victory despite committing 18 turnovers and shooting just 26.6% (17-for-64) from the field, including a 23.8% (5-for-21) showing from beyond the arc. Junior Katie Latham (Wakefield, MA) paced Amherst on the boards with a game-high 11 caroms.
