Muller Nets 21, Leads Jeffs Past WNEC

SPRINGFIELD, MA - Amherst College sophomore guard Jenny Muller (Andover, MA) netted a career-high 21 points on Tuesday night, leading the Jeffs to a 69-43 win at non-conference foe Western New England College (WNEC). Junior co-captain Krissy Morin (Litchfield, NH) added 12 points as the Jeffs improved to 8-3 with the win.

Amherst jumped out to a 41-24 halftime advantage on the strength of 53.3% (16-for-30) shooting from the floor. The Jeffs went on to finish the game with a 48.1% (26-for-54) field goal percentage, including 50.0% (7-for-14) from three-point land. Amherst’s defense was stifling throughout, holding the host Golden Bears to just 28.3% (15-for-53) from the field.

Muller was a red-hot 8-for-13 from the floor, including a trio of three-pointers, while Morin drilled a pair of trifectas as well and posted four rebounds and four assists. Amherst rookie forward Matia Kostakis (Andover, MA) tallied eight points and grabbed a game-high eight boards.

WNEC junior center Lisa Masella (Newtown, MA) finished with a team-high nine points and seven rebounds as the Golden Bears fell to 3-4.

Amherst returns to action Thursday at 7 p.m. against visiting non-conference opponent Simmons College.
