Kostakis Named NESCAC Co-Rookie of the Year
March 3 - Amherst first-year forward Matia Kostakis was named the NESCAC
Women's Basketball Co-Rookie of the Year on Thursday, as selected by
the conference's head coaches. She shares the award with Bates guard
Sarah Barton, who led the conference in assists with 4.58 per game.
Kostakis started all 26 games and led the Jeffs in scoring 18 times

Fifth-Seeded Jeffs Finish Season with 60-48 NESCAC Semifinal Loss at
Top-Seeded Bowdoin
February 26 - The fifth-seeded Amherst women's basketball team wrapped
up its season with a 60-48 NESCAC Championship Tournament semifinal loss
at top-seeded and third-ranked Bowdoin College on Saturday. The Jeffs
finished 15-11, while the Polar Bears improved to 23-2 and will face
second-seeded and top-ranked Bates College, who slipped by No. 3 seed
Williams College 62-59 in Saturday's other conference semifinal matchup,

February 22 - Amherst junior co-captain guard Krissy Morin earned NESCAC
Women's Basketball Player of the Week honors after pouring in a game-high
15 points and netting a pair of free throws with 8.8 seconds remaining

February 19 - Amherst junior Krissy Morin netted a pair of free throws
with 8.8 seconds left in regulation to give the fifth-seeded Amherst
women's basketball team its second-ever NESCAC Championship Tournament
victory, a 55-53 win at fourth-seeded Wesleyan University (20-4) on Saturday.
Amherst improved to 15-10 with the win and moves on to face top-seeded

Jeffs Close Regular Season with Non-League Win at Sage
February 14 - Rookie forward Matia Kostakis shot a perfect 9-for-9 from
the field and tallied game highs of 21 points and eight rebounds as
the Amherst women's basketball team closed its regular season at 14-10
with a 67-49 non-league win at Russell Sage College on Monday night.
The Jeffs now set their sights on the NESCAC Championship Tournament,
beginning with Saturday's 3 p.m. opening-round matchup at Little Three

February 12 - The Amherst women's basketball team closed its NESCAC regular-season
slate with a 76-67 loss to visiting Tuft University on Saturday, falling
to 13-10 overall and 4-5 in conference play. Despite the setback, the
Jeffs earned the No. 5 seed in the eight-team NESCAC Championship Tournament
and will open postseason play Saturday at 3 p.m. at fourth-seeded Wesleyan

Jeffs Bow to Top-Ranked Bates
February 11 - The Amherst women's basketball team couldn't overcome a
27-point halftime deficit en route to a 72-52 loss to the No. 1-ranked
team in the nation, visiting NESCAC foe Bates College, on Friday night.
Amherst, which is already assured a spot in the eight-team NESCAC Postseason
Championship Tournament, fell to 13-9 overall and 4-4 in conference

February 8 - On the morning of Friday, Feb. 4, the Amherst women's basketball
team joined the students at nearby Crocker Farm Elementary School for
breakfast. Amherst players and coaches signed autographs and talked

February 5 - Junior Julie Smith tallied 10 points, eight rebounds and
six blocks and snapped a 52-52 tie with a luyup with 1:17 left in regulation
to lead the Amherst women's basketball team to a hard-fought 58-54
victory at NESCAC foe Middlebury on Saturday. The visiting Jeffs snapped
a two-game losing skid, upping their record to 13-8 overall and 3-3

Jeffs Suffer 78-65 Loss to Williams
February 4 - The Amherst women's basketball team fell to 12-8 overall
and 3-3 in NESCAC play with a 78-65 loss to visiting Williams College
(16-5/5-1 NESCAC) on Friday night. First-year Matia Kostakis paced
the Jeffs in defeat with 19 points and five rebounds, while sophomore

Basketball Teams Set for Friday Night Twinbill Against Visiting Williams
February 3 - The Amherst men's and women's basketball teams will host
Little Three rival Williams College in an all-important NESCAC doubleheader
Friday evening at LeFrak Gymnasium. The women will tip off at 5:30
p.m. with the men to follow shortly thereafter. Both games will be
Webcast live by campus radio station WAMH, with a brief pre-game show
to air at approximately 5:20. Admission is $3 for adults, and tickets
can be purchased at the door on a first-come, first-served basis. Amherst
and Williams students with valid ID and children under 10 will be admitted

February 1 - Wesleyan juniors Meghan Robinson and Hannah Stubbs poured
in 16 points apiece en route to a 50-42 non-league women?s basketball
win at Amherst on Tuesday night, improving to 17-2, while the host
Jeffs dropped to 12-7. Amherst sophomore Jenny Muller tallied 13 points

January 31 - Players and coaches from the Amherst women's basketball
team will share community breakfast with the students at nearby Crocker
Farm Elementary School in Amherst this Friday from 8:15 to 9:15 a.m.,

January 29 - First-year phenom Stefanie Reiff tallied 21 points, seven
rebounds and seven assists, while classmate Matia Kostakis added 12
points, 14 rebounds, three blocks and a trio of steals to lead the
Amherst women's basketball team to a 70-60 win over visiting NESCAC

Jeffs Nearly Knock Off Top-Ranked Bowdoin
January 28 - The Amherst women's basketball team pushed the No. 1 team
in the nation, visiting NESCAC foe Bowdoin College, to the brink of
what would have been a spectacular upset on Friday night, only to watch
a potential game-tying three-pointer by rookie point guard Shaina Pollack
rim out at the final buzzer, giving the Polar Bears a hard-fought 65-62

Jeffs Suffer 46-43 Setback at Skidmore
January 25 - The Amherst women's basketball team fell victim to a 14-0
run over the final 7:12 en route to a 46-43 non-conference loss at
Skidmore College (6-9) on Tuesday night. Rookie point guard Shaina
Pollack was the lone Amherst player in double figures with 10 points,
while fellow first-year Matia Kostakis added nine points and 10 rebounds.

Shaina Pollack notched her third steal of the game and streaked the
length of the court for a spectacular buzzer-beating, game-winning
layup, as the Amherst women's basketball team eaked out a 55-53 victory
over visiting NESCAC rival Trinity College in both teams' conference

January 13 - The Amherst women's basketball team won its second straight
game on Thursday night, hammering visiting non-conference foe Simmons

January 11 - Amherst sophomore guard Jenny Muller netted a career-high

Williams sophomore forward Maggie Miller posted 23 points and 11 rebounds,
and classmate Ellen Wilk was a perfect 5-for-5 from the field, including
four three-pointers, for 21 points as the Ephs improved to 10-2, while

January 7 - The Amherst women's basketball team shot a scorching 56.3%
(18-for-32) from the floor in the first half en route to a 61-49 win
over non-conference host Suffolk University on Thursday night. Amherst
rookie point guard Shaina Pollack netted a game-high 17 points and

December 11 - The Amherst women's basketball team posted its second straight
blowout victory on Saturday afternoon, pounding visiting non-conference
foe Clark University, 69-43, and snapping a streak of three consecutive

December 8 - Twelve of the 15 players on Amherst's roster scored in Wednesday
night's lopsided 64-32 women's basketball win at non-league foe Smith
College. Junior guard Krissy Morin led the way with a game-high 13

December 4 - After opening tournament play with a dramatic 76-72 overtime
win over Westfield State College on Friday night, the Amherst women's
