Wohl, Syfu Named NSCAA/adidas All-New England
December 13 - Amherst sophomore forward Mike Wohl and senior co-captain Andrew Syfu were each named Second-Team adidas All-New England by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) on Monday. Full Story
Syfu, Gannon, Wohl Named All-NESCAC
November 12 - Amherst senior co-captain Andrew Syfu, junior forward Joe Gannon and sophomore forward Mike Wohl were each named to the 2004 NESCAC Men’s Soccer All-Conference Team on Friday. Wohl was Amherst’s lone first-team selection, while Syfu and Gannon were second-team honorees. Full Story
Langione Named First-Team CoSIDA Academic All-District, Finalist for Academic All-America
November 4 - Amherst senior co-captain midfielder Matt Langione was the only player from the NESCAC named Academic All-District 1 (college division) for men’s soccer, as selected and announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday. Langione was a first-team selection, which automatically places him on the national ballot for CoSIDA Academic All-America consideration. Full Story
Sixth-Seeded Jeffs Suffer Narrow 1-0 Loss at No. 3 Bowdoin in NESCAC Tournament Quarterfinals
October 31 - The sixth-seeded Amherst men’s soccer team suffered a narrow 1-0 loss at No. 3 seed Bowdoin College in the opening round of the NESCAC Championship Tournament on Sunday. Bowdoin sophomore Simon Parsons scored the game winner in the 56th minute as the Polar Bears advance to face second-seeded Middlebury College next weekend in the tournament semifinals. Full Story
Jeffs Drop Regular-Season Finale to Williams, 2-0
October 30 - The Amherst men’s soccer team dropped its regular-season finale 2-0 to visiting NESCAC and Little Three rival Williams College on Saturday. With the loss, Amherst (10-4/5-4 NESCAC) was handed the No. 6 seed in the NESCAC Championship Tournament and will open postseason play tomorrow (Sunday) at noon at third-seeded Bowdoin College. Jeffs Drop 2-0 Decision to Bates
October 26 - The Amherst men’s soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to Bates College at the Middlesex School in Concord, Massachusetts on Tuesday. Bates junior Philip Johnson and first-year Brent Morin each scored as the Bobcats improved to 9-3-1 (4-3-1 NESCAC), while Amherst fell to 10-3 overall and 5-3 in conference play. Full Story
Jeffs Edged at Wesleyan, 1-0
October 23 - The Amherst men’s soccer team suffered just its second loss of the season on Saturday, falling 1-0 at NESCAC and Little Three rival Wesleyan University. The Cardinals notched the game-winner with 18:30 left in regulation as they improved to 6-4-1 (4-2-1 NESCAC), placing them fifth in the conference standings, while the Jeffs fell to 10-2 overall and 5-2 in conference play. Jeffs Win Third Straight, Blank Conn. College, 3-0
October 20 - The Amherst men’s soccer team won its third straight game on Wednesday, blanking visiting NESCAC foe Connecticut College, 3-0. Juniors Joe Gannon and Ian Lovett and sophomore Mike Wohl each tallied a goal and an assist as the Jeffs remain atop the conference standings at 10-1 overall and 5-1 in NESCAC play. Full Story
