AMHERST, MA - Senior Alex Casertano (Millbrook, NY/Loomis Chaffee) was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Riddell Lacrosse New England Men’s Player of the Week after combining for 16 points on 11 goals and five assists in a 3-0 week for the 10th-ranked Amherst College men’s lacrosse team. He tallied four goals and an assist in Tuesday’s 15-7 win over Connecticut College, followed with a pair of scores and two assists in Saturday’s 14-6 rout at Williams College and capped the week with a five-goal, two-assist performance in a 17-7 NESCAC Tournament quarterfinal victory over Conn. Casertano currently ranks second in the conference in goals (34) and fifth in points (46) and is second on the team in both categories. He has finished among the NESCAC leaders in scoring in each of the previous three seasons, ranking 15th as a junior, 19th as a sophomore and eighth as a first-year. He was also fifth in the conference in assists in his rookie campaign. With 157 career points on 91 goals and 66 assists, Casertano has the highest career totals of any player on the Jeffs’ current roster.
