Kretzman Adds to List of Postseason Awards
April 5 - Amherst senior co-captain Beau Kretzman added to his distinguished list of postseason accolades on Tuesday, earning ECAC East/NESCAC All-Star honors from the New England Hockey Writers Association (NEHWA). He and the other 11 members of the all-star squad will be honored at the annual NEHWA Banquet next Wednesday, April 13, at the Prince Restaurant in Saugus, Massachusetts. Kretzman Named AHCA/CCM Division III All-America
March 22 - Amherst senior co-captain Beau Kretzman was named Second-Team All-America by the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) at the NCAA Division III Menís Hockey Championships, hosted by Middlebury College, over the weekend. Full Story

Kretzman, Schoppel Earn NESCAC Honors
March 2 - Amherst senior co-captain forward Beau Kretzman earned menís hockey All-NESCAC honors for the fourth consecutive season, while rookie forward Kyle Schoppel was named the conferenceís Rookie of the Year on Wednesday. Kretzman was a first-team pick for the second time in three years, having earned first-team honors as a sophomore and second-team plaudits during his freshman and junior seasons. Schoppel paced all conference rookies with 34 points on 16 goals and 18 assists. Full Story

Fifth-Seeded Jeffs Suffer 6-4 NESCAC Quarterfinal Loss at Fourth-Seeded Bowdoin
February 26 - The fifth-seeded Amherst menís hockey team suffered a 6-4 NESCAC Championship Tournament quarterfinal loss at fourth-seeded Bowdoin College on Saturday. Four different players found the net for the Jeffs, who finish their season at 13-10-2, while Bowdoin improved to 16-5-3 and advances to the conference semifinals next weekend. Full Story

Men's & Women's Basketball, Men's Hockey Set for Weekend Webcasts
February 24 - The Amherst menís and womenís basketball and ice hockey teams will take the floor (and the ice) in NESCAC Tournament play this weekend, and you can catch a good portion of the action live on the Web, free of charge, courtesy of Amherst campus radio station WAMH, Bowdoin College Teamline and Tufts University Jumbocast. Jeffs Top Bowdoin 4-2 in Regular-Season Finale
February 19 - The Amherst menís hockey team finished its regular season 13-9-2 overall and 11-6-2 in conference play, topping visiting Bowdoin College 4-2 on Saturday. Amherst sophomore goalie Josh Fillman grabbed 23 saves in his second straight win as the Jeffs secured the No. 5 seed in the NESCAC Championship Tournament, while Bowdoin, which earned the fourth-seed in the conference tournament, closes its regular season 15-5-3 overall and 11-5-3 in conference play. Jeffs Ice Colby, 4-3
February 18 - The Amherst menís hockey team kept its hopes of a NESCAC Tournament first-round home game alive with a 4-3 victory over visiting Colby College (14-7-1/12-6) on Friday night. Four different players found the net for Amherst, and sophomore netminder Josh Fillman posted 33 saves as the Jeffs improved to 12-9-2 overall and 10-6-2 in conference play. Full Story

Jeffs Clip Conn. College, 4-1
February 12 - The Amherst menís hockey team posted a 4-1 victory at NESCAC host Connecticut College on Saturday. Junior Steve Nelson tallied a pair of goals as the Jeffs snapped a four-game skid and improved to 11-9-2 overall and 9-6-2 in conference play. Full Story

Jeffs Suffer 4-3 Loss at Tufts
February 11 - Tufts University junior Ken Cleary scored with just 1:12 left in the third period to deal the visiting Amherst menís hockey team a 4-3 loss on Friday night. Senior Roy Mabrey posted a goal and an assist for Amherst (10-9-2/8-6-2), while Tufts improved to 10-10-1 overall and 6-9-1 in conference play. Full Story

Jeffs Fall to Williams, 6-4
February 5 - The Amherst menís hockey team dropped to 10-8-2 overall and 8-5-2 in conference play with a 6-4 loss to visiting NESCAC and Little Three rival Williams College (9-10-1/9-6) on Saturday. Amherst senior co-captain Beau Kretzman tallied a goal and an assist, while rookie Kyle Schoppel dished out a trio of assists in the loss. Full Story

Jeffs Edged by No. 6 Middlebury, 3-2
February 4 - The Amherst menís hockey team fell to visiting sixth-ranked NESCAC rival Middlebury College 3-2 on Friday night. The Jeffs rallied with a pair of scores from rookie Kyle Schoppel in the final two sessions but could not overcome three first-period Middlebury goals as they fell to 10-7-2 overall and 8-4-2 in conference play. Jeffs Upended at NEC, 5-3
January 29 - The Amherst menís hockey team suffered a 5-3 loss at ECAC East foe New England College on Saturday. Amherst senior Brad Craigen and sophomore Erik Lund each posted a goal and an assist as the Jeffs fell to 10-6-2 overall and 8-3-2 in conference play. Full Story

Kretzman Hat Trick Leads Jeffs Past St. Anselm, 8-2
January 28 - Senior co-captain Beau Kretzman netted his fourth career hat trick on Friday night, guiding the Amherst menís hockey team to an 8-2 victory at ECAC East rival St. Anselm College. Despite being outshot 43-25, the Jeffs improved to 10-5-2 overall and 8-2-2 in conference play. Full Story

Jeffs Fall to No. 11 Hobart, 5-2
January 25 - Visiting 11th-ranked Hobart College jumped out to a four-goal lead on the strength of a hat track by junior William Brame en route to a 5-2 non-league menís hockey victory at Amherst on Tuesday night. Junior Steve Nelson and senior Bill Jenkins each found the back of the net for Amherst (9-5-2), while senior co-captain Beau Kretzman dished out a pair of assists. Full Story

Jeffs Blank Skidmore, 3-0
January 22 - Amherst first-year forward Kyle Schoppel netted his second game-winning score in as many games and senior Roy Mabrey found the net twice as the Jeffs blanked visiting ECAC East foe Skidmore College 3-0 on Saturday afternoon. Jeffs Crush Castleton State, 12-0
January 21 - The Amherst menís hockey team tallied eight first-period goals en route to a lopsided 12-0 win over visiting ECAC East foe Castleton State College on Friday night. Ten different players lit the lamp for the Jeffs, while sophomores Josh Fillman and Brandon Zangel combined for the shutout in goal as Amherst improved to 8-4-2 overall and 6-2-2 in conference play. Jeffs Snap Two-Game Losing Skid with Lopsided Win at Salem State
January 15 - Junior A.J. Greco scored a pair of goals, and senior Roy Mabrey added a goal and two assists as the Amherst menís hockey team snapped a two-game losing skid with a 7-2 win at ECAC East Division rival Salem State College on Saturday afternoon. The Jeffs improved to 7-4-2 overall (5-2-2 NESCAC/ECAC East), while Salem St. dropped to 7-6-2. Full Story

Jeffs Fall at Southern Maine
January 14 - Sophomore wing Brian Collins scored a pair of third period goals to give the University of Southern Maine Huskies a 4-2 victory over the Amherst Lord Jeffs in an ECAC Division III game Friday night at the USM Ice Arena. The win was the third straight of the Huskies who improved to 7-6-1 overall and 4-4-0 in conference play. The Lord Jeffs slipped to 6-4-2 overall and 4-2-2 in the conference. Full Story

Jeffs Suffer First Conference Loss, Fall to Hamilton 7-5
January 11 - The Amherst menís hockey team fell to visiting NESCAC foe Hamilton College on Tuesday night, 7-5. The visiting Continentals netted three third-period goals, dealing the Jeffs their first conference loss as Amherst dropped to 6-3-2 overall and 4-1-2 in conference play. Full Story

Red-Hot Jeffs Upset Previously Unbeaten Trinity, Down Wesleyan
January 8 - Senior forward Scott Aldrich scored the game-winning goal with 5:24 left in regulation to lead the Amherst men's hockey team to a 5-3 win at previously unbeaten NESCAC foe Trinity College on Friday night. The Jeffs then posted a 4-2 win at Little Three and NESCAC rival Wesleyan University on Saturday, improving to 6-2-2 overall and 4-0-2 in conference play. Full Story

Jeffs Blanked 5-0 at Top-Ranked Middlebury
December 11 - The Amherst menís hockey team saw its four-game unbeaten streak fall by the wayside with a 5-0 non-league loss at defending national champion Middlebury College - the nationís top-ranked team - on Saturday night. The host Panthers remain undefeated at 4-0, while Amherst drops to 4-2-2. Full Story

Jeffs Bury WNEC, 10-2
December 10 - The Amherst menís hockey team outshot visiting non-conference foe Western New England College (WNEC) 51-12 en route to a 10-2 blowout victory on Friday night. Eight different players lit the lamp for the Jeffs, who improved to 4-1-2 with the victory. Full Story

Schoppel Named NESCAC Co-Player of the Week
December 6 - Amherst first-year forward Kyle Schoppel was named the NESCAC Menís Hockey Co-Player of the Week on Monday after leading the Jeffs to a 4-1 win over previously unbeaten St. Michaelís College and a 5-5 tie against second-ranked Norwich University. Schoppel leads all NESCAC first-years in both points (nine) and goals (seven) and stands third in the conference and sixth in the nation in goals per game (1.17). Full Story

Jeffs Battle No. 2 Norwich to 5-5 Overtime Tie
December 4 - The Amherst menís hockey team battled second-ranked ECAC East foe Norwich University to a 5-5 overtime tie on Saturday afternoon. Sophomore Sean Ellis and rookie Kyle Schoppel each tallied a pair of goals for the Jeffs, who improved to 3-1-2 overall and remained undefeated in conference play at 2-0-2. Full Story

Jeffs Win Home Opener, Deal St. Michael's First Loss, 4-1
December 3 - The Amherst menís hockey team won its home opener on Friday night, dealing ECAC East foe St. Michaelís College its first loss of the season, 4-1. Amherst rookie forward Kyle Schoppel posted a pair of goals and an assist, while senior co-captain Beau Kretzman had a goal and two assists and fellow co-captain Jon Hill dished out a trio of assists. The Jeffs improved to 3-1-1 overall and remained undefeated in conference play at 2-0-1, while the Purple Knights fell to 3-1 (3-1 ECAC East). Full Story

Jeffs Fall to Conn. College, Upend Wesleyan at Luce Tourney
November 28 - The Amherst menís hockey team moved to 2-1-1 with a 2-0 loss to host Connecticut College and a 3-1 win over Wesleyan University at the Charles Luce Tournament, held at Conn.ís Dayton Arena on Saturday and Sunday. Fourteenth-ranked Trinity College won the tournament with a 5-2 first-round win over Wesleyan and a 2-1 victory over Conn. in the championship game. Full Story

Jeffs Play to 6-6 Tie at Babson
November 20 - The Amherst menís hockey team fell victim to a game-tying goal by Babson College junior Johnny Kim with 1:50 left in regulation as the Beavers and the visiting Jeffs finished in a 6-6 deadlock in ECAC East/NESCAC menís ice hockey action on Saturday afternoon. With the tie, both teams moved to 1-0-1 on the season. Full Story

Jeffs Open Season with 6-3 Win at UMass Boston
November 19 - The Amherst menís hockey team opened its season with a 6-3 win at ECAC East foe UMass Boston on Friday night. Six different players found the net for the Jeffs, while senior co-captain Jon Hill, junior Marc Russell, sophomore Trevor Calamel and first-year Michael McIntosh each dished out two assists as Amherst outshot the Beacons 51-33. Kretzman Icing the Competition at Amherst
November 10 - Amherst senior captain Beau Kretzman grew up in Edina, Minn., firing thousands of shots at a homemade hockey goal built by his father, imagining each as the deciding factor in the big game and trying to make every shot perfect. He's displayed this focus in each of the hundreds of goals he's poured in over his career, and he's rewriting the menís hockey record book at Amherst. Full Story

Jeffs Skate into 2004-05 Season
November 10 - The Amherst College men's hockey team is set for the 2004-05 season. Senior co-captain Beau Kretzman heads a large group of veteran forwards, while fellow co-captain Jonathan Hill leads a youthful Jeff defense.
