Amherst's Kretzman Named AHCA/CCM Division III All-America

AMHERST, MA - Amherst College senior co-captain Beau Kretzman (Edina, MN) was named Second-Team All-America by the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) at the NCAA Division III Men’s Hockey Championships, hosted by Middlebury College, over the weekend.
A four-time All-New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) selection and the 2001-02 NESCAC Rookie of the Year, Kretzman finished his senior campaign among the conference and/or national leaders in a bevy of statistical categories, including points (39), goals (15), assists (24), short-handed points (4), power-play points (14) and power-play goals (5). He graduates as the program’s fifth all-time leading scorer with 143 career points on 72 goals and 71 assists.
Kretzman was one of four NESCAC players to earn AHCA All-America honors, along with first-team selections Doug Kisielius (Trinity), Brian Phinney (Middlebury), Patrick Walsh (Colby), Gus Katsuras (Hamilton) and Joseph Ori (Trinity).
Amherst finished its season at 13-10-2 overall and 11-6-2 in conference play, earning the No. 5 seed in the NESCAC Postseason Championship Tournament, where they fell in the quarterfinals at fourth-seeded Bowdoin, 6-4.
