Jeffs Snap Two-Game Losing Skid with Lopsided Win at Salem State

SALEM, MA - Junior A.J. Greco (Williamsville, NY) scored a pair of goals, and senior Roy Mabrey (Needham, MA) added a goal and two assists as the Amherst College menís hockey team snapped a two-game losing skid with a 7-2 win at ECAC East Division rival Salem State College on Saturday afternoon. The Jeffs improved to 7-4-2 overall (5-2-2 NESCAC/ECAC East), while Salem St. dropped to 7-6-2.

Seniors Bill Jenkins (Edina, MN), Beau Kretzman (Edina, MN) and Brad Craigen (Kitchener, Ontario) and junior Steve Nelson (Wayzata, MN) joined Greco and Mabrey in the scoring column, and Jenkins, Craigen, sophomores Trevor Calamel (Lockport, NY), Brandon Zangel (Highland Ranch, CO) and Erik Lund (Edina, MN), junior Jack Greeley (Scituate, MA) and rookies Kyle Schoppel (Cambridge, Ontario) and Andrew Schremp (Denver, CO) each dished out assists.

Amherst sophomore goalie Josh Fillman (Charlestown, MA) went the distance with 40 saves.

The Jeffs return to action Friday at 7 p.m. against visiting ECAC East foe Castleton State.
