Jeffs Fourth at NESCAC Championships, Seventh at Duke Nelson Invitational

MIDDLEBURY, VT - The Amherst College men’s golf team shot a two-day score of 323-318-641, finishing fourth at the NESCAC Championships and seventh at the Duke Nelson Invitational, played concurrently at Middlebury College’s Ralph Myhre Golf Course over the weekend. Sophomore Sean Jules (Chicago, IL) paced the Jeffs with a 76-79-155, while senior captain Justin Sharaf (Danvers, MA) followed closely, firing a 79-78-157.
Jules’ score was good for second in the NESCAC and fifth in the Duke Nelson, and Sharaf’s round placed him 12th and sixth, respectively. Sophomore Andrew Bruns (Eaton, OH) finished with a 87-76-163, shooting the best second-day score for the Jeffs, while juniors David Litt (Bethesda, MD) and Keith Zalaski (Simsbury, CT) capped Amherst’s scoring with rounds of 84-85-169 and 84-94-178, respectively.
Williams College took home the NESCAC crown led by Nick Ryder’s tournament low 80-74-154, while NYU captured the Duke Nelson title. Salem State College’s Matt Baran earned medallist honors in the Duke Nelson with a low round of 79-73-152.
Amherst returns to action Thursday at the WNEC Invitational.
