AMHERST, MA - After leading the Amherst College menís basketball team to a 26-2 record, its fourth consecutive trip to the NCAA Round of 16 and the programís third NESCAC Championship in the last five years, senior co-captain forward Andrew Schiel (Wayne, PA) and junior guard John Bedford (Ridgewood, NJ) were each named Division III All-Northeast Region by D3hoops.com. Schiel was a First-Team All-Northeast pick, while Bedford earned Third-Team All-Region honors.

Schiel, an Honorable Mention All-America as a junior and a Preseason All-America this year, earned NESCAC Player of the Year and First-Team All-NESCAC honors after finishing among the conference and/or national leaders in a variety of statistical categories, including scoring (17.1 ppg), field goal percentage (57.3%), free throw percentage (74.5%), three-point field goal percentage (36.5%) and blocked shots (1.93/gm). One of ten finalists for the Jostens Trophy, awarded annually to the NCAA Division III national player of the year, Schiel graduates as Amherstís seventh all-time leading scorer with 1,408 career points.

Like Schiel, Bedford was a First-Team All-NESCAC selection after finishing among the conference statistical leaders in a bevy of categories, including scoring (15.2 ppg), field goal percentage (50.7%), free throw percentage (74.8%) and three-point field goal percentage (37.8%).
