Santry Named NESCAC Player of the Week

May 3, 2005

AMHERST, MA - After batting .667 and driving in nine runs in a 3-1 week for Amherst College, senior co-captain third baseman Josh Santry (Allendale, NJ/N. Highlands) was named the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Baseball Player of the Week.

Amherst remained in first place in the NESCAC West Division standings after taking two out of three from archrival Williams College. Santry recorded an .818 on-base percentage during the three-game set and capped the series with a double, two singles, five RBIs, a stolen base and a run scored in the Jeffs’ Game 3 victory. He also homered and plated a trio of runs in a wild 17-16 win over Brandeis earlier in the week.

Santry is batting a robust .371 on the season with six doubles, two home runs and 22 RBIs. He’s also stolen six bases in as many attempts.

Now 17-4 overall and 6-1 in divisional play, Amherst returns to action today (Tuesday) at 3:30 p.m. at non-league foe Springfield College.
