Harmeling, Shannon Reach Consolation Quarterfinals at CSA Women's Squash Individual Championships
March 8 - Amherst junior Ashley Harmeling reached the consolation quarterfinals of the Ramsay Cup, for the top 36 nationally ranked players, while first-year Caroline Shannon reached the consolation quarterfinals of the Holleran Cup, for players ranked 37th through 72nd, at the 2004 Women’s College Squash Association Championships, hosted by St. Lawrence University on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. 11th-Ranked Jeffs 10th at Howe Cup Nationals
February 22 - The 11th-ranked Amherst women’s squash team finished 10th at the Howe Cup Nationals, hosted by Yale University over the weekend. Playing in the Kurtz Cup for teams ranked ninth through 16th nationally, the Jeffs blanked Vassar College 9-0 and edged Cornell University 5-4 on Saturday before falling to No. 9 Bates College 5-4 in the finals. 10th-Ranked Jeffs Split at Little Three Championships, Blanked by Princeton
February 15 - The 10th-ranked Amherst women’s squash team shutout Wesleyan University, 9-0, but fell to Williams College, 8-1, at the Little Three Championships hosted by Williams College on Saturday. The Jeffs continued on Sunday at Trinity College, where they fell to third-ranked Princeton University, 9-0. Junior Ashley Harmeling was the lone Jeff to post two individual victories, downing Wesleyan senior Sa Suwanarat 9-0, 9-0, 9-0, and Williams first-year Clare Whipple 9-7, 9-6, 9-0. Full Story

10th-Ranked Jeffs Blank Mt. Holyoke, 9-0
February 10 - The 10th-ranked Amherst women’s squash team blanked visiting Mt. Holyoke College 9-0 on Tuesday night. Junior Ali Gibbs and first-year Emily Zandy posted impressive victories, winning 9-0, 9-3, 9-0 and 9-0, 9-1, 9-0, respectively. The Jeffs relinquished just two games in the match as they improved to 14-6. Full Story

10th-Ranked Women's Squash Downs Bowdoin, Falls to Bates at Amherst Invite
February 7 - The 10th-ranked Amherst women’s squash team earned a 7-2 victory over visiting 12th-ranked Bowdoin College, but fell 5-4 to ninth-ranked Bates College at the Amherst Invitational on Saturday. First-year Caroline Shannon and junior Ali Gibbs each posted individual victories in both matches for the Jeffs, who moved to 13-6 on the year. Full Story

No. 10 Women's Squash's Six-Match Winning Streak Snapped at Second-Ranked Yale
February 4 - The 10th-ranked Amherst women's squash team saw a six-match winning streak fall by the wayside with a 9-0 shutout loss at second-ranked Ivy League power Yale University on Wednesday. The Jeffs dipped to 12-5, while Yale remained undefeated at 9-0. Full Story

10th-Ranked Jeffs Blank Haverford, Tufts
February 1 - The 10th-ranked Amherst women’s squash team blanked Haverford College and Tufts University 9-0 at Smith College on Sunday. The Jeffs relinquished only five games in the two matches as they won their sixth consecutive match and improved to 12-4. Amherst returns to action on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Yale University. 10th-Ranked Jeffs Down St. Lawrence, 7-2, Vassar, 8-1
January 31 - The 10th-ranked Amherst women’s squash team posted wins over visiting St. Lawrence University, 7-2, and Vassar College, 8-1, on Saturday. No. 1 player junior Ashley Harmeling and No. 2 player senior Liz Martin were victorious in both matches as Amherst improved to 10-4. The Jeffs return to action Sunday at Smith College, taking on Haverford College and Tufts University. Full Story

10th-Ranked Jeffs Win Second Straight, Sweep Wellesley, 9-0
January 30 - The 10th-ranked Amherst women’s squash team won its second consecutive match on Thursday, sweeping visiting Wellesley College, 9-0. The Jeffs relinquished only one game on the day as they improved to 8-4, while Wellesley fell to 4-7 with the loss. Amherst returns to action on Saturday, hosting St. Lawrence University at 10 a.m., and Vassar College at 2 p.m. Full Story

The Jeffs snapped a two-match losing streak and improved to 7-4, as first-years Caroline Shannon and Emily O’Brien each earned their seventh individual victories of the year. January 23 - The 12th-ranked Amherst women’s squash team fell to visiting 13th-ranked Cornell University on Friday, 5-4. Junior Tara Kenney and first-years Emily O’Brien, Abby Mantica and Emily Zandy all posted victories for the Jeffs, who dropped to 6-4 with the loss. Full Story

January 20 - The 12th-ranked Amherst women’s squash team fell at eighth-ranked Brown University 8-1 on Tuesday. First-year Caroline Shannon earned the lone Jeff victory with a 5-9, 2-9, 9-7, 9-0, 9-4 victory over Brown sophomore Kari Betts. January 18 - The 12th-ranked Amherst women’s squash team improved to 6-2 on Sunday, wrapping up the Amherst Invitational with a 9-0 blanking of 19th-ranked Mt. Holyoke College. Amherst senior Pam Burkardt, juniors Ali Gibbs and Tara Kenney, and first-year Emily O’Brien each posted a trio of match victories in tournament play. 12th-Ranked Women's Squash Off To 2-1 Start at Amherst Invitational
January 17 - The 12th-ranked Amherst women’s squash team jumped out to a 2-1 start at the Amherst Invitational Tournament, downing 16th-ranked Middlebury College 7-2 on Friday before falling 9-0 to the fifth-ranked University of Pennsylvania and downing 11th-ranked Colby College 8-1 on Saturday. Now 5-2 on the season, Amherst closes tournament play Sunday at 11:30 a.m. against visiting 19th-ranked Mt. Holyoke College. Full Story

January 14 - The 12th-ranked Amherst women’s squash team fell to visiting sixth-ranked Dartmouth College 9-0 on Wednesday. Dartmouth was dominant throughout, not relinquishing a game to the host Jeffs who dropped to 3-1 with the loss. Full Story

12th-Ranked Jeffs Open Season with 3-0 Mark at Williams Invitational
January 12 - The Amherst women’s squash team, ranked 12th in the latest College Squash Association national poll, opened its season with wins over ninth-ranked Bowdoin College, 27th-ranked Smith College and 26th-ranked Connecticut College, at Saturday and Sunday’s Williams College Invitational.
