Harmeling Wins National Award at IWLCA All-America Banquet

AMHERST, MA - Amherst College junior Ashley Harmeling (N. Reading, MA) was named the Division III Attacker of the Year at the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-America Banquet in Baltimore, Maryland on Saturday.

Harmeling shattered single-season school records for goals (75), assists (52) and points (127) and led the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) in all three categories, earning First-Team All-NESCAC, NESCAC Player of the Year, First-Team IWLCA All-New England, First-Team IWLCA/US Lacrosse All-America and First-Team womenslacrosse.com All-America honors.

A three-sport standout, Harmeling was the NESCAC Player of the Year and a First-Team All-America in women’s soccer as well. She’s also the top women’s squash player at Amherst, finishing her junior season ranked 31st nationally in the final College Squash Association (CSA) Individual Rankings.

Amherst finished its season at 16-3 (8-1 NESCAC) and advanced to its fifth NCAA Final Four with a pair of lopsided regional wins over the University of Scranton and Plymouth State, before falling to eventual national champion Middlebury College in the national semifinals.
