Martin to Play in IWLCA Division III North-South Senior All-Star Game

May 12, 2004

AMHERST, MA - Amherst College senior tri-captain Liz Martin (Baltimore, MD) has been selected to play in the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division III North-South Senior All-Star Game on Saturday, June 5, at the STX Farewell Lacrosse Festival, hosted by University of Maryland - Baltimore County.

Martin, a three-time All-America and the 2003 Warrior/Inside Lacrosse Division III Midfielder of the Year, is just one goal shy of the Amherst career record of 184, held by Kristin Osborn ’01. Including a prolific 85-goal, 19-assist rookie campaign at Goucher College, she enters this weekend’s NCAA Final Four fifth all-time in Division III with 268 career goals and tied for 11th with 336 career points (according to the Division III record book, which was last updated after the 2003 season). A First-Team All-NESCAC selection for the third consecutive season, she is second in the NESCAC in goals (64) and points (88), and tied for fourth in assists (24).

Amherst will attempt to defend its national title Saturday at 2:30 p.m. against archrival Middlebury College in the national semifinals, hosted by St. John Fisher College in Rochester, NY. The winner advances to Sunday’s NCAA Championship game against the victor of the other semifinal tilt between The College of New Jersey and Salisbury University. Sunday’s national championship game will be televised live on College Sports Television (CSTV) - channel 611 on DirecTV, also available on some local cable systems.
