Amherst Women's Golf Tied for First After First Day at Paradise Valley CC Invitational

CAVE CREEK, AZ - The Amherst College women’s golf team shot a team score of 318 on the first day of competition at the Paradise Valley Community College Invitational on Monday, good for a first-place tie with Columbia University. Amherst senior Kathryn Kuchefski (Wellesley, MA) finished the opening round in first place with a career-best 73, while junior captain Meg Sullivan (Northampton, MA) and first-year Sarah Harper (Rochester, MN) shot collegiate-bests as well with rounds of 78 and 79, respectively.

Junior Sarah Godwin (Swarthmore, PA) and sophomore Melissa Sidman (Bethesda, MD) rounded out the top five for Amherst with scores of 88 and 91, respectively.

Amherst wraps up tournament play today, and returns to action Friday through Sunday, April 2-4, at the Boston College Invitational.
