2003-04 Amherst Women's Basketball Milestones


TEAM ACCOMPLISHMENTS

  • Finished with an 11-14 overall record (3-6 NESCAC), earning the sixth seed in the NESCAC Postseason Championship Tournament, where they fell to third-seeded Bates, 62-57, in the first round.
  • Won the Vassar College Invitational with a pair of wins over John Jay College and host Vassar.
  • Posted a 2-0 record with wins over Springfield College and WNEC at the Pioneer Valley Classic, hosted by Amherst.
  • Led the NESCAC in three-point field goal percentage (33.0%) and blocked shots (6.52/gm.).

INDIVIDUAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS

    Senior Quad-Captain Guard Marissa McGuire (Minneapolis, MN)
  • NESCAC Winter All-Academic.
  • Tournament MVP at the Vassar College Invitational with 12 points, 12 rebounds and six assists in the championship game.
  • Fifth in the NESCAC in blocked shots (1.43 bpg), 10th in defensive rebounding (4.91/gm.) and 12th in rebounding (6.6 rpg).


  • Senior Quad-Captain Guard Shannon Russell (Shrewsbury, MA)
  • Fourth in the NESCAC in three-point field goals made (2.04/gm.), ninth in three-point field goal percentage (32.7%) and tied for 13th in scoring (11.5 ppg).
  • Graduates as Amherst’s all-time leading three-point shooter with 249 career trifectas.
  • Second on Amherst’s all-time scoring list with 1,345 career points and eighth all-time with 178 assists.


  • Senior Quad-Captain Center Caitlin Farrell (Lafayette, CA)
  • Fourth in the NESCAC in blocked shots (1.52 bpg).
  • Graduates as Amherst’s second all-time leading shot blocker with 149 career rejections.


  • Sophomore Forward Katie Latham (Wakefield, MA)
  • Seventh in the NESCAC in defensive rebounding (5.41/gm.), ninth in rebounding (7.8 rpg), 10th in field goal percentage (45.2%), 11th in offensive rebounding (2.36/gm.) and 27th in scoring (8.4 ppg).


  • Sophomore Forward Julie Smith (Villanova, PA)
  • Third in the NESCAC in blocked shots (1.75 bpg).


  • First-year Guard Kim Glazier (Boxford, MA)
  • Fourteenth in the NESCAC in assists (2.48 apg).
