Sixth-Seeded Jeffs Finish Season With 62-57 NESCAC Quarterfinal Loss at No. 3 Seed Bates
February 21 - The sixth-seeded Amherst women’s basketball team finished its season with a 62-57 loss in the NESCAC Tournament Quarterfinals at No. 3 seed Bates College on Saturday. Bates senior Lauren DuBois netted 13 points, including two key jumpers in the final minutes, as the Bobcats advance to next Saturday’s tournament semifinals at Bowdoin College. Amherst senior Shannon Russell had a game-high 24 points on 5-of-9 shooting from three-point range and collected seven boards as the Jeffs end their season at 11-14. Full Story

Jeffs Drop Regular-Season Finale to Wesleyan, 78-62
February 14 - Despite a career-high 14 points from sophomore guard Kristine Morin, the Amherst women’s basketball team ended its regular season with a 78-62 loss to visiting NESCAC and Little Three rival Wesleyan University (19-3/7-2 NESCAC) on Saturday. Despite the setback, the Jeffs (11-13/3-6 NESCAC) secured the No. 6 seed in the eight-team NESCAC Championship Tournament, and will open postseason play with a first-round game next Saturday (Feb. 21) at 1 p.m. at third-seeded Bates College. Jeffs Stomp Conn. College, 83-39
February 13 - The Amherst women’s basketball team placed 11 players in the scoring column en route to a 83-39 stomping of visiting NESCAC foe Connecticut College on Friday night. Sophomore Katie Latham paced the Jeffs with a game-high 12 points and nine rebounds, while first-year Liz Avis chipped in a career-high 10 points and sophomore Julie Smith added nine points, nine boards and a career-high seven blocks. Herlihy's Buzzer-Beater Leads Jeffs Past Trinity, 59-58
February 7 - Amherst junior Kate Herlihy nailed a three-pointer in the final seconds of regulation to lead the Amherst women’s basketball team to a 59-58 win at NESCAC rival Trinity College on Saturday. The Bantams had a chance to ice the game from the free throw line with 15 seconds remaining, but missed the front end of a 1-and-1, and Herlihy hit the game-winner with her only shot of the contest. Jeffs Upended at Clark, 75-51
February 5 - The Amherst women’s basketball team dropped its fifth straight with a 75-51 loss at non-conference foe Clark University on Thursday night. Clark placed four players in double figures, led by graduate student Rachael Turkington with 13 points. Amherst sophomore Kristine Morin led the Jeffs in scoring for the second consecutive game with nine points, while classmate Julie Smith scored seven points and grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds. Jeffs Drop Fourth Straight, Fall at Bates, 72-46
January 31 - Olivia Zurek recorded her fourth double-double of the season, scoring 15 points and grabbing 10 rebounds to lead the Bates College women’s basketball team to a 72-46 win over visiting Amherst in a New England Small College Athletic Conference game on Saturday afternoon. Bates improved to 13-6, 4-1 NESCAC, and has won its last four games. Full Story

Jeffs Bow at Tufts, 75-56
January 30 - Host Tufts University remained undefeated at home this season with a 75-56 victory over Amherst College in NESCAC women’s basketball action on Friday night. Sophomore guard Jessica Powers scored 17 points with seven assists to lead the Jumbos. Full Story

Jeffs Fall at Williams, 71-60
January 24 - The Amherst women's basketball team fell at NESCAC and Little Three Rival Williams College on Saturday, 71-60. Williams sophomore Colleen Hession netted a game-high 24 points as the Ephs improved to 14-2 (4-0 NESCAC). The Jeffs placed four players in double figures, seniors Shannon Russell and Caitlin Farrell, and sophomores Kristine Morin and Julie Smith, as they dropped to 9-8 overall and 1-3 in conference play.Full Story

Jeffs Earn First NESCAC Win With 77-64 Victory Over Middlebury
January 23 - The Amherst women's basketball team earned its first NESCAC victory this season with a 77-64 win over visiting Middlebury College on Friday night. Senior quad-captain Marissa McGuire led the Jeffs with 19 points, seven rebounds, six assists, two blocks and two steals, while classmates Shannon Russell and LaShauna Barboza added 15 and 13 points, respectively.
