Jeffs Fall at Bowdoin, 77-46

BRUNSWICK, ME - The Bowdoin College women's basketball team jumped out to an 8-0 lead and never looked back in a 77-46 win over visiting Amherst in NESCAC action on Saturday. The Polar Bears (13-0) extend the nation's longest home winning streak to 33 games, while the Jeffs drop to 8-6 on the year.

Bowdoin grabbed an early lead on a pair of free throws from Eileen Flaherty and Justine Pouravelis before Erika Nickerson buried back-to-back jumpers to make it 8-0 in the opening minutes. A 12-2 run by the Polar Bears midway through the first frame extended the advantage to 29-11 as Bowdoin held the Jeffs to 24% shooting from the field in the first half. The Polar Bears led by 20 at the intermission, 37-17.

Bowdoin was led in scoring by Erika Nickerson, who finished with 15 points. Lora Trenkle had 12 points, while Flaherty had 13 points and seven boards. Kristine Morin, who finished with 12 points, was the lone Amherst player in double figures.
