Warner Named Second-Team Academic All-District

AMHERST, MA - Amherst College softball pitcher Miya Warner (Berkeley, CA) was named Second-Team Academic All-District 1 by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Wednesday. Warner, a sophomore majoring in history and French, posted a 10-7 record and finished third in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) in wins, fourth in strikeouts (136), fifth in innings pitched (118) and seventh in ERA (1.36). She was also second in the NESCAC and 21st in the nation in strikeouts per seven innings (8.1).

Warner was a First-Team All-NESCAC and Third-Team Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division III All-New England selection as a rookie, when she led the conference in wins (12-12), innings pitched (164.2), strikeouts (181), batters struck out looking (53), appearances (26), games started (22), shutouts (4), complete games (22) and opponent batting average (.207) and finished second in individual pitching (1.66 ERA).

She now has 22 wins, 317 strikeouts, seven shutouts and 37 complete games in just two seasons at Amherst.

The Jeffs finished the 2004 season at 13-14 (4-4 NESCAC West), narrowly missing out on a berth in the four-team NESCAC Postseason Championship Tournament.
