Jeffs Edge Salem State, 2-1, Rained Out Against Roger Williams

FORT MYERS, FL - The Amherst College softball team earned a narrow 2-1 victory over Salem State College in Fort Myers, Florida on Tuesday, while the Jeffs’ contest against Roger Williams University was rained out in the first inning. Amherst sophomore hurler Miya Warner (Berkeley, CA) improved to 3-0 with the win over Salem, surrendering just two hits and striking out six.

Sophomore Rachel Hoerger (Oakland, CA) had a single and scored on a wild pitch, and first-year Hilary Little (Kentfield, CA) plated fellow rookie Caroline Polales (Winnetka, IL) on a fielder’s choice for the Jeffs’ other score. First-year Annalise Rodli (La Canada, CA) also had a single as Amherst improved to 4-1 with the victory.

No makeup date has been scheduled for the game against Roger Williams.

Amherst resumes its Florida swing Thursday at 11 a.m. against Fitchburg State College, followed by a 1 p.m. matchup with Worcester State College.
