Jeffs Down Franklin & Marshall, Edged by Hobart and Bates at CSA Team Championships
March 2 - Playing in the Hoehn Division (for teams ranked ninth through 16th nationally) at the College Squash Association (CSA) Team Championships, hosted by Yale University over the weekend, the Amherst men's squash team won its first-round match over Franklin & Marshall College, 5-4, before bowing to Hobart College, 5-4, in the semifinals. The Jeffs then played Bates College in an 11-12 playoff match on Sunday, and suffered another narrow defeat, 5-4. Full Story

11th-Ranked Jeffs Jeffs Swept at No. 3 Yale, 9-0
February 22 - The 11th-ranked Amherst College menís squash team fell at No. 3 Yale University on Saturday, 9-0. The host Bulldogs did not relinquish a game as they improved to 10-2, while the Jeffs dropped to 9-7. Amherst returns to action this Friday through Sunday at the College Squash Association Team Championships hosted by Yale. Full Story

11th-Ranked Jeffs Blank Wesleyan, Fall to Williams, Princeton
February 15 - The 11th-ranked Amherst menís squash team blanked Wesleyan University, 9-0, but fell to Williams College, 7-2, at the Little Three Championships, held at Williams College on Saturday, and were shutout by fourth-ranked Princeton University at Trinity College on Sunday, 9-0. First-years Auloke Mathur and Stuart Landesberg each posted a pair of match victories as the Jeffs fell to 9-6 and saw a seven-match win streak fall by the wayside. Full Story

11th-Ranked Jeffs Sweep Amherst Invitational, Upend Franklin & Marshall, Colby
February 8 - The 11th-ranked Amherst menís squash team swept the Amherst Invitational with a 6-3 win over Franklin & Marshall College and a 9-0 shutout victory over Colby College on Sunday. Amherst sophomore Nick Haslett and first-year Peter Hatfield posted flawless 4-0 records on the weekend as the Jeffs improved to 8-4 with their seventh-consecutive victory. Full Story

11th-Ranked Jeffs Down Bowdoin, Bates at Amherst Invitational
February 7 - The 11th-ranked Amherst menís squash team downed visiting Bowdoin College, 5-4, and Bates College, 6-3, at the Amherst Invitational on Saturday. First-year Auloke Mathur and sophomore Nick Haslett each posted individual victories as the Jeffs improved to 6-4 on the year. Full Story

11th-Ranked Jeffs Down St. Lawrence, Blank Vassar
January 31 - The 11th-ranked Amherst menís squash team evened its record at 4-4 with a pair of decisive wins over visiting St. Lawrence University and Vassar College on Saturday. Amherst downed 26th-ranked St. Lawrence, 8-1, before blanking 32nd-ranked Vassar, 9-0. The Jeffs host the Amherst Invitational Tournament next Saturday and Sunday, taking on Bowdoin and Bates Colleges on Saturday, and Franklin & Marshall and Colby Colleges on Sunday. Full Story

11th-Ranked Jeffs Earn Narrow 5-4 Win Over No. 13 Hobart
January 25 - The 11th-ranked Amherst menís squash team earned a narrow 5-4 win over visiting 13th-ranked Hobart College on Sunday. Amherst junior Michael Strong downed Statesman first-year Prateek Patni in the No. 2 match 9-6, 3-9, 9-4, 9-6, and Amherst sophomore Nick Haslett upended junior Andrew Scott in the No. 4 match 9-2, 10-8, 9-6. Also earning victories for the Jeffs were senior co-captain Asad Haque, junior co-captain Brian Lawrence and first-year Stuart Landesberg. Amherst improved to 2-4 with the victory, while Hobart fell to 9-5. Full Story

11th-Ranked Jeffs Blanked by Fifth-Ranked Cornell, 9-0
January 23 - The 11th-ranked Amherst menís squash team dropped to 1-4 with a 9-0 loss to visiting fifth-ranked Cornell University on Friday. Amherst sophomore Tyler Mixter was the lone Amherst player to steal a game from the Big Red, falling to Cornell sophomore Matt Greenberg 3-1 (4-9, 9-0, 9-1, 9-2). 11th-Ranked Jeffs Earn First Win, Blank No. 22 MIT, 9-0
January 21 - The 11th-ranked Amherst menís squash team won its first match on Wednesday, blanking visiting 22nd-ranked MIT, 9-0. The Jeffs were winless in their first three contests, but improved to 1-3 as they relinquished only one set to MIT, which fell to 0-5 with the loss. Full Story

11th-Ranked Jeffs Fall 7-2 at No. 9 Brown
January 20 - The 11th-ranked Amherst menís squash team dropped a 7-2 loss at ninth-ranked Brown University on Tuesday. Amherst first-years Stuart Landesberg and Auloke Mathur earned victories for the Jeffs, who fell to 0-3 with the loss. Brown improved to 1-4 with the victory. Full Story

11th-Ranked Jeffs Blanked by No. 7 Penn
January 17 - The 11th-ranked Amherst menís squash team fell to 2-0 with a 9-0 loss to the visiting seventh-ranked University of Pennsylvania on Saturday. Amherst sophomore Nick Haslett was the lone Amherst player to steal a game from the Quakers, falling to Penn first-year William Simonton 3-1 (9-3, 3-9, 9-4, 9-2). 11th-Ranked Jeffs Open Season With 9-0 Loss to Visiting Eighth-Ranked Dartmouth
January 14 - The Amherst men's squash team, ranked 11th in the latest College Squash Association national poll, dropped its season opener to visiting eighth-ranked Dartmouth College 9-0 on Wednesday. Junior Michael Strong was the lone Amherst player to steal a game from the Big Green, falling to Dartmouth sophomore Hank Alexander, 3-1. Full Story

Jeffs Poised for 2003-04 Season
November 6 - The Amherst men's squash team is ready for the 2003-04 season after finishing last year's campaign 9-8 and ranked 11th in the nation. Co-Captains Asad Haque í04 and Brian Lawrence í05 lead the Jeffs along with No. 1 and 2 players Gifford Sommerkamp '05 and Michael Strong '05. Full Story
