2004 Amherst Men's Lacrosse Milestones


TEAM ACCOMPLISHMENTS

  • Finished with an 11-5 overall record, 6-3 in conference play.
  • Earned the fourth seed and a first-round home game in the NESCAC Postseason Championship Tournament, where they edged Bowdoin 6-5 in the first round before falling to Middlebury 7-2 in the semifinals.
  • Finished 11th in the nation (and third in the NESCAC) in scoring defense at 7.06 points per game. Also fourth in the NESCAC in scoring offense at 9.81 points per game.

INDIVIDUAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS

    Senior Co-Captain Attackman Mike Allison (W. Nyack, NY)
  • Most Valuable Player at the 63rd Annual United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Division III North-South Senior All-Star Game at Nazareth College, scoring a goal, dishing out three assists and winning 13 of 23 face-offs in leading the North All-Stars to a hard-fought 18-14 victory.
  • Second-Team All-New England.
  • First-Team All-NESCAC.
  • NESCAC Spring All-Academic.
  • Tied for sixteenth in the NESCAC in scoring (33 pts.) and 14th in goals (23).


  • Senior Co-Captain Defenseman Alexei Kudla (Bethesda, MD)
  • Second-Team All-NESCAC.


  • Junior Attackman Alex Casertano (Millbrook, NY)
  • Fifteenth in the NESCAC in scoring (34 pts.).


  • Junior Goalie Cushing Donelan (Noroton, CT)
  • Second-Team All-New England.
  • Second-Team All-NESCAC.
  • Fifth in the nation in goals against average (6.70) and 13th in save percentage (.644).
  • Led the NESCAC in save percentage (.644) and second in goals against average (6.70).
  • Named the Division III National Player of the Week by Inside Lacrosse for the period ending April 25, with 14 saves in an 11-2 upset win at then tenth-ranked Bowdoin, holding the normally high-powered Polar Bears to their lowest single-game scoring output since 1980.
  • Earned NESCAC Player of the Week honors for the period ending April 4, collecting nine saves in a 7-6 win over visiting Bates and 11 saves in a 10-4 win over visiting Colby.

  • First-Team All-New England.
  • First-Team All-NESCAC.


  • First-Year Attackman Derek Cherney (Chappaqua, NY)
  • Honorable Mention STX/USILA All-America.
  • New England Rookie of the Year.
  • Second-Team All-New England.
  • NESCAC Rookie of the Year.
  • First-Team All-NESCAC.
  • Tied for eighth in the NESCAC in goals (28), ninth in scoring (43 pts.) and 13th in assists (15).
