Hamill, Page Lead Jeffs at Tufts Invitational

MEDFORD, MA - Junior All-American Carter Hamill (Richmond, VA) and classmate Mike Page (Fargo, ND) each posted a victory to lead the Amherst College womenís and menís indoor track teams to outstanding performances at the Tufts Invitational on Saturday. Hamill took home the womenís 1,500-meter run, besting the second-place finisher by 10 seconds, while Page won the menís 3,000-meter run.

Hamill also led the first-place distance medley relay team, which won by a whopping 30 seconds, along with first-year Shauneen Garrahan (Fairfax Station, VA), senior tri-captain Alyson Venti (Newton, MA) and sophomore Ariel Haney (Fairport, NY). Garrahan earned second place in the 800-meter run, and Venti took second place in the 1,000-meter run. Haney nabbed seventh place in the 500-meter dash, followed by a 15th-place showing by junior tri-captain Monica Westin (Lexington, KY). Senior Erinn White (Watertown, MA) earned sixth place in the 3,000-meter run, and sophomore Lyndsey Scott (West Orange, NJ) claimed ninth place in the 400-meter dash.

Junior Jack Morgan (Las Vegas, NV) earned second place in the 1,000-meter run, missing first place by just 0.09 seconds, while junior Dave Molina (Cleveland, OH) and senior tri-captain Andrew Schneider (Saratoga Springs, NY) posted a 3-4 finish in the 800-meter run, separated by less than a second. Senior John Stanton-Geddes (Glendale, MO) followed Page in the 3,000-meter run with a seventh-place finish, and sophomore Dave Schreiner (Manhattan Beach, CA) nabbed sixth place in the 5,000-meter run. Senior tri-captain Janak Chandrasoma (Pasadena, CA) and first-year Jon Ettinger (Chevy Chase, MD) claimed 11th and 19th place, respectively, in the 500-meter dash. Ettinger also posted a sixth-place finish in the triple jump, followed closely by senior Paul Whiting (Mission Viejo, CA), who earned eighth place.

On Friday, the womenís team will travel to Boston University for the Terrier Classic before rejoining the men on Saturday at Wesleyan University for the Cardinal Invitational.
