Stanton-Geddes Named Academic All-District, Finalist for Academic All-America
June 10 - Amherst senior cross-country co-captain and track standout John Stanton-Geddes was named First-Team Academic All-District 1 by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). As a first-team selection, Stanton-Geddes now moves on to the national ballot for CoSIDA Academic All-America consideration. Full Story

Hamill, Garrahan Lead Women to Sixth-Place Showing at NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships
May 29 - Amherst junior Carter Hamill and first-year Shauneen Garrahan finished second and third, respectively, in the 5,000-meter final at the NCAA Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Millikin University on Saturday, leading the Jeffs to a sixth-place tie with Carthage College in the final team standings. Hamill Wins 10,000-Meter National Title at NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships
May 28 - Amherst junior Carter Hamill earned her 12th All-America award and collected her third-ever national championship by winning the 10,000-meter run at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Millikin University on Thursday afternoon. Hamill will vie for a fourth national title on Saturday as one of the favorites at 5,000 meters, where sheíll be joined by Amherst first-year Shauneen Garrahan and senior co-captain Aly Venti. Garrahan Breaks School Record in Fifth Straight Meet at ECAC Championships
May 17 - Paced by first-year All-America Shauneen Garrahanís fifth school-record run in as many meets, the Amherst women tied for sixth place with Richard Stockton College at the ECAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, held this past Friday and Saturday at Williams College. The men, competing with just three runners, were led by Dave Molinaís sixth-place finish in the 800-meter run (1:54.05), and ended the two-day meet in a three-way tie for 47th place. Full Story

Amherst Women 19th, Men 23rd at New England Open Championships
May 9 - Stellar performances, including four NCAA qualifying marks and a school record, led the Amherst womenís and menís outdoor track and field teams to 19th- and 23rd-place finishes at the New England Open Championships, hosted by Northeastern University on Friday and Saturday. Boston College captured the womenís team championship, while the University of Rhode Island claimed the menís title. Full Story

Amherst Women Third, Men 12th at Division III New England Championships
May 3 - With four first-place finishes and two second-place finishes, including a new school record, the Amherst women amassed 80 points and took home a best-ever third-place finish at the Womenís Division III New England Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Springfield College on Friday and Saturday. The men, again led by junior All-America Jack Morgan, who finished second in the 800-meter dash, placed 12th at the Menís Division III New England Championships, hosted by Williams College. Amherst Women Fifth, Men Ninth at NESCAC Championships
April 25 - Led by several stellar performances, including three first-place finishes in the distance events, the Amherst women finished fifth at the NESCAC Championship Meet, hosted by Trinity College on Saturday, while the men, led by junior Jack Morganís victory in the 800-meter run, placed ninth. Hamill, Garrahan Shine at Penn Relays
April 22 -Amherst junior All-America Carter Hamill finished fourth in the 10,000-meter run, and first-year All-America Shauneen Garrahan took home eighth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Penn Relays, hosted by the University of Pennsylvania on Thursday. Full Story

Amherst Women Second, Men Third at Little Three Outdoor Track & Field Championships
April 18 - First-place finishes from junior All-America Carter Hamill in the 1,500-meter run, sophomore Margaret Davis in the 5,000-meter run and junior Alison Rodriguez in the 3,000-meter steeplechase propelled the Amherst women to a second-place showing at the Little Three Outdoor Track & Field Championships, held at Williams College on Saturday, while the men, led by first-place finishes from junior All-America David Molina in the 800-meter run, sophomore David Schreiner in the 5,000-meter run, and sophomore L.J. Spinnato in the hammer throw, placed third. Full Story

Jeffs Shine at Williams Relays
April 11 - Sophomore Margaret Davis captured first place in the 10,000-meter run and junior All-America Carter Hamill took home two second-place finishes in her second duel-race performance in as many weeks to lead the Amherst womenís track and field team at the Williams Relays, held at Williams College this past Saturday. Junior All-America Jack Morgan led the men with his first-place finish in the 800-meter run. Full Story

April 4 - First-year All-America Shauneen Garrahan captured first place in the 5,000-meter run, and junior All-America Mike Page placed second in the same event on the menís side, to lead the Amherst menís and womenís outdoor track teams at the Bantam Invite, held at Trinity College on Saturday. Men Fifth, Women Seventh at Season-Opening Conn. College Outdoor Track Invitational
March 28 - In what was the first meet of the Amherst track and field teamís spring season, the men, led by several second-place finishes in the sprinting and jumping events, placed fifth, while the women, led by junior Lee-Jay Henryís first and second-place finishes in the triple jump and long jump, finished seventh overall at the Connecticut College Invitational, held in New London, CT this past Saturday. Hamill Wins Second National Championship, Amherst Runners Shine at NCAA Championships
March 13 - Amherst junior Carter Hamill posted an All-American performance for the third consecutive year and collected her second national championship by winning the 5,000-meter run at the NCAA Div. III Indoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by University of Wisconsin-Whitewater on Friday and Saturday. She set a new site record with a time of 16:46.63, besting her competition by more than 30 seconds. Amherst senior Aly Venti competed in the 5,000 as well, finishing 12th with a time of 18:21.22. Hamill also led the womenís distance medley relay team to a second-place finish, while the menís distance medley relay team nabbed sixth place. Full Story

Amherst Men's and Women's Indoor Track Teams Place Seventh, 13th at ECAC Championships
March 8 - In the final meet before the upcoming NCAA Championships, the Amherst menís and womenís indoor track teams placed seventh and 13th, respectively, at the ECAC Championships, hosted by Bowdoin College on Friday and Saturday. The womenís team continued to rewrite the Amherst record book as junior All-America Carter Hamill and first-year phenom Shauneen Garrahan broke school records for the second consecutive meet. February 29 - The Amherst menís and womenís indoor track teams set four school records and added a number of other outstanding performances over the weekend at the New England Open Championships, held at Boston University. Full Story

Amherst Indoor Track Teams Third, Ninth at New England Championships
February 22 - Four first-place finishes, including a meet record, propelled the Amherst women to a best-ever third-place finish on Saturday at the Division III New England Championships, hosted by MIT, while the men, led by junior Michael Pageís third-place finish and school record in the 5,000-meter run, placed ninth at the Division III New England Championships, hosted by Bowdoin College. Jeffs Race Past Competition at Valentine Classic, Fast Track Invitational, Tufts Stampede
February 15 - On a weekend in which their athletes were spread among three meets - the Boston University Valentine Classic, the Tufts Stampede, and the Boston University Fast Track Invitational - the Amherst menís and womenís track and field squads posted two individual school records, saw an athlete earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship meet, and enjoyed a number of additional successful individual and relay performances. Garrahan Leads Amherst Women's Indoor Track Team to Fifth Place, Men Finish Seventh at Tufts Invitational
February 9 - Strong individual performances propelled the Amherst menís and womenís indoor track and field teams to seventh and fifth place, respectively, on Saturday at the Tufts Invitational III, held at the Gantcher Family Sports & Convocation Center at Tufts University. First-year Shauneen Garrahan led the women with a second-place finish in the 1500-meter run. Her time of 4:40.21 set a new school record and qualified her provisionally for the NCAA Championship meet. Full Story

Hamill Breaks School Record at Terrier Classic, Amherst Runners Shine at Wesleyan Invitational
February 1 - The Amherst men and womenís indoor track teams posted outstanding individual performances at the Terrier Classic, hosted by Boston University on Friday, and the Wesleyan University Invitational on Saturday. Amherst junior All-American Carter Hamill broke the school record in the 5,000-meter run and earned automatic qualification to the NCAA Championship meet with a time of 16:32.45 at the Terrier Classic, while sophomores Ariel Haney and Lyndsey Scott tied for the school record in the high jump with a height of 5í2Ē at Wesleyan. Hamill, Page Lead Jeffs at Tufts Invitational
January 26 - Junior All-American Carter Hamill and classmate Mike Page each posted a victory to lead the Amherst womenís and menís indoor track teams to outstanding performances at the Tufts Invitational on Saturday. Hamill took home the womenís 1,500-meter run, besting the second-place finisher by 10 seconds, while Page won the menís 3,000-meter run. Full Story

Amherst Runners Excel at Season-Opening Wesleyan Invitational
January 19 - The Amherst men and womenís indoor track teams posted exceptional individual efforts at the season-opening Wesleyan University Invitational. First-year Shauneen Garrahan and sophomore Ariel Haney were both double winners on the womenís side, while the men posted 1-2-3-4 finishes in both the 1,500-meter run and the 3,000-meter run. Track & Field Looks to Keep it Rolling in 2003-04
December 3 - Both the men's and women's programs experienced great success in 2002-03. The women's DMR team of Kate Hamill, Carter Hamill, Lyndsey Scott and Jessamyn Conell-Price combined to earn All-America honors and set a school record with a seventh-place finish at the NCAA Indoor Championships, while the men's 4x800 relay squad of Jack Morgan, Dave Molina, John Stanton-Geddes and Andy Schneider combined to shatter a 16-year old school record with a runner-up finish at the New England Championships. The 2003-04 squad will look to keep it rolling, beginning with its season opener on Saturday, December 6, at Northeastern University. Full Preview

Hamill Leaving X-Country, Track Competition In The Dust
September 8 - The pile of worn-out running shoes in the far corner of Carter Hamillís dorm room is the lone evidence that one of the best, brightest and most unassuming collegiate distance runners in the nation lives there. No medals or All-America certificates adorn her walls, only the minimountain of identical pairs of spent New Balance, which serves as an unintentional shrine to the hundreds of miles sheís logged on the tracks, trails and roads of Amherst.
