Jeffs Second at NESCAC Championships

September 29, 2003

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA - The Amherst men’s golf team finished second at the NESCAC Championship Tournament, hosted by NESCAC archrival Williams College at the Taconic Golf Course on Saturday. First-year Sean Jules and junior Mike Valentine led the Jeffs, finishing third and fifth, respectively, and claiming First-Team All-NESCAC honors.

The Jeffs finished with a team score of 311, one stroke shy of champion Hamilton College in the rain-shortened tournament. Jules led the way with a 76, followed closely by Valentine’s 78. Sophomore David Litt (Bethesda, MD) and rookie Drew Russ (Maui, HI) shot identical scores of 79, good for sixth place, and junior captain Justin Sharaf’s 80 tied for 13th. Litt, Russ and Sharaf were all awarded Second-Team All-NESCAC honors.

The Jeffs return to action Thursday at the WNEC Invitational.
