Jeffs Eighth at Season-Opening Duke Nelson Invitational

MIDDLEBURY, VT - The Amherst College menís golf team opened its fall slate with an eighth-place showing at the Duke Nelson Invitational, hosted by NESCAC rival Middlebury College at the Ralph Myhre Golf Course on Saturday and Sunday. Sophomore David Litt (Bethesda, MD) fired a two-day score of 73-80-153 and finished tied for ninth overall to pace the Jeffs.

Junior captain Justin Sharaf (Danvers, MA) shot a similarly impressive 81-76-157 and finished tied for 23rd, followed by rookie Andy Bruns (Eaton, OH) in 31st (83-76-159), fellow first-year Sean Jules (Chicago, IL) in 42nd (86-76-162) and senior Dan Altschuler (Manhattan, NY) in 85th (86-87-173).

Amherst posted a team score of 323-308-631, just 13 strokes behind eventual winner Clarkson University, which edged runner-up Williams College by just one stroke.
