June 8, 2004

AMHERST, MA - Amherst College menís golfer Justin Sharaf (Danvers, MA) was named a 2004 Cleveland Golf Division III All-America Scholar by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) on Tuesday. Sharaf, a junior captain, was one of only three menís golfers from the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) to earn All-America Scholar honors, along with Hamilton Collegeís Brian Williams and Thomas Ferrero.

A two-time PING/GCAA All-Northeast Region selection, Sharaf was Amherstís top finisher in three tournaments this spring and posted his first collegiate win at the Skidmore College Palamountain Invitational, besting an 89-player field that included a trio of PING/GCAA Pre-NCAA Tournament All-Americas with a two-day total of 73-76-149. He also earned Second-Team All-NESCAC honors for the second consecutive season with a 13th-place individual showing at the NESCAC Championship Tournament, hosted by Williams College during the fall, and was a NESCAC All-Academic selection.

Division III All-America Scholars must be juniors or seniors with at least two years at the collegiate level, a stroke average under 79.0 and a minimum grade-point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
