Red-Hot Sharaf Paces Jeffs at District Shootout

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA - Behind a ninth-place individual showing by junior captain Justin Sharaf (Danvers, MA), the Amherst College men’s golf team posted a seventh-place team finish at the District 1 Shootout, hosted by Williams College at the Taconic Golf Club over the weekend.
Sharaf, who claimed individual medallist honors for the first time in his collegiate career last week at the Skidmore College Palamountain Invitational, shot a two-day total of 77-78-155 at Williams, 13 strokes behind St. Lawrence University’s Kyle Rank, who won the individual title at even-par (71-71-142).
Amherst rookie Sean Jules (Chicago, IL) fired a 79 on Sunday to tie for 30th individually. He was followed by sophomore teammate David Litt (Bethesda, MD), who tied for 43rd, rookie Drew Russ (Maui, HI), who tied for 50th and junior Mike Valentine (Topsfield, MA), who tied for 52nd.
Skidmore College won the team championship at 47 over par (312-303-615).
Amherst returns to action with the Little Three Championships, hosted by Wesleyan University, this Wednesday at 8:30 a.m.
