Seventh-Ranked Jeffs Remain Unbeaten with Lopsided 87-52 Win Over Johnson & Wales

MIAMI, FL - Led by junior forward Andrew Schiel's (Wayne, PA) team-high 18 points, the seventh-ranked Amherst men's basketball team remained unbeaten at 8-0 on Tuesday night with a convincing 87-52 win over Johnson & Wales University at the Miami (Fla.) Country Day School.

Amherst placed 13 players in the scoring column, including sophomore guard John Bedford (Ridgewood, NJ), who poured in 13 points off the bench. Senior sharpshooter John Donovan (Holmdel, NJ) joined Schiel and Bedford in double figures with 12 points.

The lopsided victory was the Jeffs’ fifth by 30 point or more, upping their average margin of victory to a whopping 30.9 points. Amherst’s closest game thus far was an 80-70 win at Springfield College on Saturday, Dec. 6.

The Jeffs return to action Monday at 7 p.m. at non-league foe Salve Regina.
