Ryan Named NFHCA Division III North Senior All-Star

AMHERST, MA - Amherst College senior co-captain Christine Ryan (Summit, NJ) was one of just four field hockey players from the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) named to the Division III North Senior All-Star Team, selected by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA), on Tuesday. Selected student-athletes will participate in the 2003 NFHCA Division III North/South Senior All-Star Game on Saturday, November 22 at 10 a.m. at Lebanon Valley College in Annville, Penn.
Ryan leads the 18th-ranked Jeffs - who enter their final game of the regular season at 9-4 overall and 5-3 in conference play - in points (17), goals (5), assists (7) and shots (29). She’s also sixth in the NESCAC in assists per game (0.54) and 13th in points per game (1.31).
Ryan was a Second-Team All-NESCAC and Second-Team STX/NFHCA Division III All-New England West Region selection as a junior, tying for the team lead in scoring with eight points on three goals and two assists. As a sophomore, Ryan was Amherst’s third leading scorer with 14 points on five goals and four assists, as the Jeffs advanced to the NESCAC Postseason Championship Tournament title game.
Ryan is also a defender on the women’s lacrosse team, scooping up 18 ground balls in 16 games as a sophomore before leaving the team to study abroad as a junior.
NESCAC players joining her on the Division III North Senior All-Star Team are Bowdoin’s Amanda Burrage and Middlebury’s Char Glessner and Missy Krempa.
