One of her four victories came against senior co-captain teammate Susanna Burke (St. Louis, MO) in the tournament semifinals. Amherst’s other senior co-captain, Roopali Agarwal (Boxford, MA), advanced to the quarterfinal round before bowing to eventual “B” Division national champion Muckerman.

Harmeling faced a grueling road to the title match. After blanking Nikki Patel 9-1, 9-0, 9-2 in the round of 32, she won a five-game marathon over Andrea Berberian, 7-9, 10-9, 2-9, 9-6, 9-1, in the round of 16 and posted another five-game win over Laura Kimble in the quarterfinals, 9-3, 4-9, 9-7, 2-9, 9-3, setting up her 9-7, 9-2, 9-0 semifinal win over Burke.

Burke found an easier road early on, rolling past Hannah Whang 9-2, 9-3, 9-1 in the round of 32, blanking Nusrat Madraswal 9-0, 9-7, 9-3 in the round of 16 and upending Phoebe Anderson 9-7, 9-2, 9-0 in the quarterfinals.

Agarwal downed Tracy Nichols 9-4, 9-5, 9-5 in the opening round and dispatched Morgan Pratt 9-1, 9-5, 9-0 in the round of 16 before being eliminated by Muckerman.
