The women's basketball team recently joined the students at nearby Crocker Farm Elementary School for breakfast. Senior tri-captain Sara Bozorg, a former student at Crocker Elementary, and the rest of the Jeffs signed autographs and talked to the kids about sports and the importance of schoolwork. PHOTOS

April 22 - Amherst women’s basketball sharpshooter Shannon Russell and men’s basketball defensive stopper Adam Harper, both rising seniors, are currently featured on CollegehoopsNet.com, a Website that serves the national college basketball community. Russell Named Second-Team All-NESCAC
March 5 - Amherst women’s basketball player Shannon Russell was named Second-Team All-NESCAC on Wednesday, as selected by the league’s head coaches. The 5’ 7” junior shooting guard led the NESCAC and finished 23rd in the nation in three-pointers made per game (2.8). She was also third in the conference in scoring (16.1 ppg), sixth in three-point field goal percentage (.338) and, despite her diminutive stature, finished ninth in the NESCAC in blocked shots per game (0.88). Jeffs Wrap Up Season with 63-58 Loss at Wellesley
February 20 - The Amherst women’s basketball team finished its season at 12-12 on Thursday night with a 63-58 non-league loss at Wellesley College, despite a game-high 17 points on 7-for-8 shooting by junior guard LaShauna Barboza. It was the final game for Amherst senior tri-captains Sarah Walker, Sara Bozorg and Brooke Diamond, who finish their careers with 61 wins over four seasons. Full Story

Women's Basketball Nudged from Playoff Hunt with 69-57 Loss at Wesleyan
February 15 - The Amherst women’s basketball team saw its playoff hopes come to a screeching halt with a 69-57 setback at Wesleyan University on Saturday. The loss left the Jeffs out of the eight-team NESCAC Tournament field at 12-11 overall and 2-7 in conference play. Full Story

Women's Basketball Wins Second Straight, 76-61, at Conn. College
February 14 - Conn. College senior Margaret Guernsey exploded for a career-high 30 points, and added eight rebounds but it wasn’t enough as the Amherst women’s basketball team (12-10, 2-6) defeated the Camels (4-16, 0-8) 76-61 Friday night in Luce Fieldhouse. The win was Amherst’s second straight after Thursday’s 68-46 non-league victory over visiting Springfield. Full Story

Russell Reaches 1,000 Points; Jeffs Snap Three-Game Skid with 68-46 Win Over Springfield
February 12 - Junior sharpshooter Shannon Russell entered Wednesday night’s game against visiting Springfield College just 16 points shy of becoming only the seventh player in Amherst history to score 1,000 career points. She got her 16 points, and then some. More importantly, Russell led the Jeffs to a 68-46 win over Springfield, snapping a three-game losing skid against a Pride team that entered the game at 16-4. Jeffs Drop Third Straight, 71-52, to Trinity
February 8 - The Amherst women’s basketball team posted its third straight loss and its ninth in its last 10 games on Saturday, falling to visiting conference rival Trinity College, 71-52, leaving the two teams tied for eighth place in the NESCAC standings with matching 1-6 league records. Amherst falls to 10-10 overall with the loss, while Trinity improves to 7-12. Full Story

Jeffs Bow to Clark, 75-68
February 6 - Visiting Clark University jumped out to a 14-point halftime lead and held off a late second-half surge en route to a 75-68 non-league women’s basketball victory over Amherst on Thursday night. The loss was Amherst’s eighth in its last nine games, despite a double-double 17-point, 14-rebound performance by senior center Sarah Walker. Full Story

Jeffs Fall to Bates, 73-57
February 1 - The women's basketball team led 34-29 at the half but ended up losing by 16 points on Saturday, falling to visiting NESCAC rival Bates College 73-57. The Bobcats used an 18-2 run at the start of the second half to ice the Jeffs and improve to 9-5 (3-2 NESCAC) on the season. Amherst fell to 10-8 (1-5 NESCAC) with its seventh loss in its last eight games. Full Story
