Jeffs Remain Undefeated in Conference Play with Doubleheader Sweep Over Wesleyan
April 10 - Rookie hurler Miya Warner tossed a pair of complete game victories, including a two-hit shutout in the opener, as the Amherst softball team improved to 4-0 in NESCAC West Division play and 10-6 overall with a doubleheader sweep over visiting Little Three rival Wesleyan University on Thursday, winning the first game 3-0 and the nightcap 7-2. Warner Wins Sixth Straight as Amherst Softball Downs WPI, 5-1
April 2 - Reigning NESCAC Player of the Week Miya Warner won her sixth straight pitching decision on Wednesday, while sophomore DH Kathryn Honderd snapped a scoreless tie with a game-winning two-run single in the sixth inning, as the Amherst softball team improved to 8-6 with a 5-1 win at non-league foe WPI. Warner Named NESCAC Player of the Week
March 31 - After jumping out to a 7-3 pitching record with 84 strikeouts and a .148 opponent batting average, first-year hurler Miya Warner was named the NESCAC Softball Player of the Week on Monday. Warner has all seven Amherst wins on the season, including a pair of complete game victories in Sunday’s doubleheader sweep over visiting NESCAC West Division rival Hamilton College. She also tossed her first career no-hitter in Thursday’s 3-0 win over Clark University. Full Story

Jeffs Sweep NESCAC Twinbill Against Hamilton
March 29 - The Amherst softball team improved to 7-6 overall and 2-0 in conference play with a pair of victories over visiting NESCAC West Division foe Hamilton College Saturday at Hill Field. In the opener, rookie hurler Miya Warner tossed a complete-game, three-hit shutout to lead the Jeffs to a 1-0 victory. Amherst first-year outfielder Rachel Hoerger went 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored as the Jeffs notched their second win of the day, 4-1. Full Story

Jeffs Bow to Brandeis Power Surge, 9-1
March 28 - Brandeis University cranked out 14 hits and three home runs en route to a 9-1 non-league softball win at Amherst on Friday. Junior center fielder Sara Albert homered twice for the Judges, now 9-4, while junior first baseman Jamie Kidd keyed a five-run fifth inning with her first round tripper of the season. The game was called after the sixth inning due to the NCAA eight-run rule. Full Story

Warner Tosses First Career No-Hitter; Jeffs Blank Clark, 3-0
March 27 - First-year hurler Miya Warner struck out seven and pitched her first career no-hitter on Thursday as the Amherst softball team blanked visiting non-league foe Clark University 3-0 on Hill Field. Senior co-captain shortstop Missy Mordy keyed the offense with a game-winning three-run double in the fifth inning. Full Story

Jeffs Cap Florida Trip with 4-3 Win Over Fontbonne
March 21 - The Amherst softball team rallied for four runs in the fifth inning on Friday to overtake Fontbonne University 4-3 in Fort Myers, Florida. Junior Emily Melia capped the game-winning flurry with a two-run double. With the win, the Jeffs conclude their Florida trip at 4-5. Full Story

Jeffs Fall to Worcester State, Upend St. Lawrence
March 20 - Amherst first-year Miya Warner is one of the hardest working women in college softball. The rookie hurler pitched a complete-game 5-2 loss to Worcester State College on Thursday, and then tossed five innings of one-hit relief in a 14-7 win over St. Lawrence University shortly thereafter. Both games were played in Fort Myers, Florida. Full Story

Softball Drops Pair to Lasell, Endicott
March 20 - The Amherst softball team dropped to 2-4 with a pair of losses in Fort Myers, Florida on Wednesday, falling 8-5 to Lasell College and 2-0 to Endicott. Rookie hurler Miya Warner carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning in the nightcap but the Jeffs couldn't hold on. Full Story

Jeffs Down Keene State, Bow to Bowdoin
March 19 - After rain postponed a pair of games in Fort Myers, Florida on Monday, the Amherst softball team returned to the diamond on Tuesday with a 3-1 win over Keene State and a 5-3 loss to Bowdoin College. Rookie hurler Miya Warner tossed both ends of the doubleheader, including a 12-strikeout, three-hit pitching performance against Keene State. Full Story

Monday's Softball Twinbill Against Endicott, Lasell, Rained Out
March 18 - The Amherst College softball team was scheduled to take on Endicott College and Lasell College Monday afternoon in Fort Myers, Florida, but both games were rained out and rescheduled for Wednesday evening. The Jeffs will play Lasell at 7 p.m. and Endicott shortly thereafter.

Softball Opens with Shutout Win Over Nichols, Loss to Framingham
March 17 - The Amherst softball team opened its Florida trip on Sunday with an 8-0 win over Nichols College and a 6-1 loss to Framingham State. First-year fireballer Miya Warner struck out 14 and earned her first career shutout against Nichols, while Tamara Baer and Laura Trigeiro each had a pair of hits. Full Story

Mordy, Melia Look to Lead Jeffs in 2003
February 14 - The Amherst softball team looks poised for another postseason run in 2003, largely behind the strength of an experienced and talented senior class. Senior co-captain Missy Mordy will patrol the infield at shortstop and senior co-captain Emily Melia will take the mound as the squad’s marquee pitcher, after a junior year that landed her a 2.68 ERA.
