Valdesolo Advances to Men's "B" Division Quarterfinals at College Squash Association Individual Championships
March 3 - Senior co-captain Carlo Valdesolo won a pair of matches and advanced to the Menís ďBĒ Division quarterfinals at the College Squash Association (CSA) Individual Championships, hosted by Trinity College, over the weekend. Valdesolo blanked Angel Magana in the round of 32 and upended David Haile in the round of 16, but was eliminated by Tejvir Rathore in the quarterfinals. Full Story

Jeffs Down Bowdoin & Hobart, Fall to Williams at CSA Team Championships
February 24 - Playing in the Hoehn Division (for teams ranked ninth through 16th nationally) at the College Squash Association Team Championships, hosted by Princeton University and the University of Pennsylvania over the weekend, the Amherst men's squash team won its first-round match over Bowdoin College, 5-4, before bowing to archrival Williams College, 6-3, in the semifinals. The Jeffs then played Hobart College in an 11-12 playoff match on Sunday, and won 6-3. Full Story

Jeffs Fall to Fourth-Ranked Yale, 9-0
February 15 - The 11th-ranked men's squash team fell to visiting fourth-ranked Yale University, 9-0, Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Jeffs finish the regular season at 7-7 overall. Full Story

Jeffs Down Wesleyan, Fall to Williams at Little Three Championships
February 8 - The 11th-ranked Amherst menís squash team downed Wesleyan University 8-1 and fell to Williams College 6-3 in Saturdayís Little Three Championship Tournament, hosted by Amherst. Seven of Amherstís eight match wins against Wesleyan came via shutout. Sophomore Brian Lawrence and junior Asad Haque surrendered just one point each in respective victories over 22nd-ranked Wesleyanís Philip Wallach and Thanadon Chantaralawan. Full Story

Men's Squash Blanked by Visiting Harvard
February 3 - The Amherst menís squash team ran into a buzz-saw in third-ranked Harvard University on Monday evening. The visiting Crimson swept all nine matches en route to a 9-0 shutout victory, refusing to surrender a single game along the way. The loss snapped a two-match winning streak for the 11th-ranked Jeffs, who fell to 6-5 on the season. Full Story

Jeffs Upend Rochester, 8-1
January 31 - After downing No. 14 Hobart College on Saturday, the 11th-ranked men's squash team upended the 23rd-ranked University of Rochester, 8-1, Friday at Davenport Courts. With the victory, the Jeffs improve to 6-4 overall while the visitors drop to 6-6. Full Story

Jeffs Blanked at Cornell, 9-0; Downs Hobart, 6-3
January 25 - The 11th-ranked men's squash team was blanked at No. 6 Cornell University, 9-0, Friday afternoon. However, the Jeffs rebounded to down 14th-ranked Hobart College, 6-3, on Saturday. With the split, Amherst moves to 5-4 overall. Full Story

Jeffs Rebound With 7-2 Win at MIT
January 22 - The Amherst College menís squash team rebounded from a pair of losses to Ivy League powers Penn and Brown with a decisive 7-2 win at 18th-ranked MIT on Wednesday. The host Engineers posted a pair of wins at the top of the draw, but Amherst swept the remaining seven matches, all by 3-0 scores, to improve to 4-3 on the season. Full Story

17th-Ranked Jeffs Fall to No. 9 Brown, 7-2
January 21 - After being downed at sixth-ranked Dartmouth College last week, the 17th-ranked men's squash team fell to visiting ninth-ranked Brown University, 7-2, Tuesday afternoon. With the loss, the Jeffs drop to 3-3 overall. Full Story

Men's Squash Downs Bowdoin, Falls to Penn
January 17 - The Amherst menís squash team split a pair of matches at the University of Pennsylvania over the weekend, upending 10th-ranked NESCAC rival Bowdoin College, 5-4, on Friday night before falling to eighth-ranked Penn, 9-0, on Saturday. Amherstís Michael Strong, Carlo Valdesolo, John Holodnak, David Bauer and Nick Haslett each posted match victories in the win over Bowdoin. Full Story

16th-Ranked Jeffs Fall at No. 6 Dartmouth Despite Match Wins by Strong, Valdesolo
January 15 - Sophomore Michael Strong and senior co-captain Carlo Valdesolo won their battles on Wednesday, but the 16th-ranked Amherst menís squash team lost the war, falling at sixth-ranked Ivy League power Dartmouth College, 7-2. Full Story

Men's Squash Improves to 2-0 With 9-0 Win Over Colby
December 7 - The men's squash team improved to 2-0 with its second straight 9-0 shutout victory, this time over visiting Colby College Saturday at Davenport Courts. The Jeffs swept six of the nine matches en route to the win, including a pair of five-game victories by sophomore Gifford Sommerkamp and first-year Nick Haslett. Full Story

Men's Squash Opens With 9-0 Win Over Tufts
December 3 - The Amherst menís squash team opened its 2002-03 slate with a convincing 9-0 shutout win over visiting Tufts University on Tuesday. The Jeffs swept every match 3-0 en route to the whitewash victory, including a 9-4, 9-1, 10-8 win by first-year Nick Haslett in his collegiate debut. Full Story
