Hamill Fourth in the 5,000, Fifth in the 10,000 at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships
May 24 - Amherst sophomore sensation Carter Hamill finished fifth in the 10,000 meters on Thursday and fourth in the 5,000 meters on Saturday, earning All-America honors in both events at the 2003 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by St. Lawrence University. Full Story

Jeffs Excel at Open New Englands, ECACs
May 20 - Both sides of the Amherst outdoor track team posted several notable performances during the Open New Englands Track and Field Championships, held at the University of New Hampshire from Thursday, May 8 to Saturday, May 10, and the ECAC Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship Meet, hosted by MIT on Thursday and Friday. Women Eighth, Men 13th at Division III New England Outdoor Championships
May 5 - The Amherst womenís outdoor track team turned in an eighth-place finish at the Division III New England Championships at Williams College on Saturday, and the men followed up with a 13th-place day at Bates College. The women drew first blood in the 5,000-meter run, as sophomore Carter Hamill and junior Erinn White paced a strong field to second and fifth places, respectively. Full Story

Women Eighth, Men 11th at NESCAC Outdoor Track Championships
April 28 - The Amherst menís and womenís outdoor track teams participated in the NESCAC Championships, hosted by Williams College, on Saturday. The women ended the meet in eighth place, while the men landed in 11th place. The host Ephs took team championship honors on both the menís and womenís scoreboards. Full Story

Outdoor Track Teams Third at Little Three Championships
April 22 - The Amherst men's and women's outdoor track teams came through with several key performances despite third-place finishes at Saturday's 2003 Little Three Track Championships, hosted by Wesleyan University. Williams College notched the top spots on both the men's and women's sides, followed by second-place Wesleyan. Full Story

April 18 - The Amherst College menís and womenís outdoor track teams geared up for Saturdayís Little Three Championships, posting several impressive individual times at last Saturdayís Williams Relays and Tuesdayís dual meet with cross-town University of Massachusetts Amherst. Full Story

Outdoor Track Teams Battle Elements at Sprinfield Invitational
April 7 - Despite winter weather conditions, the Amherst menís and womenís outdoor track teams posted strong individual performances at Sundayís Springfield College Invitational, originally slated to take place at Trinity College. On Saturday, the squad will run at the Williams Relays, hosted by Williams College, before beginning its series of championship meets. Full Story

Men Second, Women Fifth, at Season-Opening Conn. College Outdoor Track Invitational
March 29 - The Amherst menís and womenís outdoor track teams began their spring campaigns on a tear on Saturday at the Connecticut College Invitational. For the men, strong performances from all sides contributed to a second place team finish behind the United States Coast Guard Academy. On the womenís side, the first-year class showed up in force, lifting Amherst to a first-place finish over second-place Coast Guard. Full Story

Women's Distance Medley Relay Team, Carter Hamill, Earn All-America Honors at NCAA Indoor Championship Meet
March 16 - The Amherst womenís distance medley relay team picked up seventh place and All-America honors on Friday night at the NCAA Division III Womenís Indoor Track Championships at Depauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. Senior tri-captain Kate Hamill, first-years Jessamyn Connell-Price and Lyndsey Scott, and sophomore Carter Hamill combined for a time of 11:58.68, a new school record. On Saturday, defending national champion Carter Hamill powered her way to yet another All-America finish, this time with a sixth-place showing in the 5,000-meter run. Full Story

Defending NCAA Champ Carter Hamill Qualifies for Nationals, Paces Track Teams at ECAC Indoor Championships
March 10 - Defending national champion Carter Hamill qualified for the NCAA National Championship meet for the second straight season with a blistering time in the 5,000-meter run, as the Amherst menís and womenís indoor track teams competed at this weekendís ECAC Championship meet at Tufts University. Hamill, a sophomore who has earned multiple All-America accolades, also combined with senior tri-captain Kate Hamill and first-years Jessamyn Connell-Price and Lyndsey Scott to qualify for Nationals in the Distance Medley Relay, breaking the school record by 13 seconds en route to a fourth-place finish. Women 16th, Men 25th at Open New England Championships
March 3 - The Amherst womenís and menís indoor track teams pulled in respectable finishes at their respective Open New England Championship Meets over the weekend, heading into next weekendís ECAC Championships at Tufts University. At Smith College, the women placed 16th in a strong field, led by sophomore Carter Hamill's fourth-place showing in the 3,000-meter run. February 24 - The Amherst womenís indoor track team notched an eighth-place finish behind first-place Williams College at this weekendís New England Division III Track and Field Championships, hosted by Bowdoin College. Meanwhile, the Amherst men finished in 15th place at their New England Division III Championship meet, behind first-place host MIT. Full Story

Jeffs Gear Up for New Englands with Top Showings at Tufts Stampede
February 18 - Sophomore Carter Hamill took first place in the 1,000-meter run to supplement a first-place time from the womenís 4x800-meter relay team, and the Amherst menís Distance Medley relay team claimed the top spot in their field to match first-place junior Andrew Schneider in the 1,000-meter run, as the indoor track team competed for individual times at Saturdayís Tufts University Track & Field Stampede. February 8 - The Amherst menís and womenís indoor track teams proved themselves amidst a bevy of NESCAC and regional competitors at Saturdayís Wesleyan University Cardinal Invitational, posting a slew of notable individual performances in preparation for next weekendís regular season finale at Tufts University. Indoor Track Turns in Standout Individual Performances at Dartmouth
February 3 - The Amherst men and womenís indoor track team turned out another weekend of notable individual performances at Saturdayís Dartmouth Indoor Invitational, hosted by Dartmouth College. The 2002-2003 season is wrapping up for the Jeffs, with the Division III New England Championship meet scheduled for Feb. 22, and the Open New England Championships the weekend after. Full Story

January 27 - The Amherst men's and womenís indoor track teams marked a successful individual weekend. Individual team members capitalized on opportunities at the Boston University 2003 Terrier Classic and at the 2003 Wesleyan University Invitational. Full Story

January 18 - The Amherst womenís indoor track team opened up its January slate with an impressive third-place showing behind nationally top-ranked winner Williams College and host Tufts University at the Tufts invitational on Saturday. Jeffs Kick Off Indoor Season at Northeastern's Husky Track & Field Carnival
December 7 - Amherstís indoor track team opened its season with impressive individual showings at the Northeastern University Husky Track & Field Carnival on Saturday. Senior tri-captain Laurel Kilgour paced the women with a third-place finish in the 1000-meter run, while sophomore Nathaniel Mahlberg and first-year Tim Porter snagged respective 12th- and 18th-place nods in the men's 500 meters. Track & Field Looks to Keep it Rolling in 2002-03
November 16 - Due to graduation, the women's track & field team's complexion will change considerably. However, a combination of returning athletes, including defending indoor 5000-meter national champion Carter Hamill '05, should help offset the losses.
