Women Eighth, Men 13th at Division III New England Championships

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA & LEWISTON, ME - The Amherst women’s outdoor track team turned in an eighth-place finish at the Division III New England Championships at Williams College on Saturday, and the men followed up with a 13th-place day at Bates College.
The women drew first blood in the 5,000-meter run, as sophomore Carter Hamill (Richmond, VA) and junior Erinn White (Watertown, MA) paced a strong field to second and fifth places, respectively. Senior Alison Dimon (Rye, NY) added a sixth-place finish in the 10,000-meter run, and sophomore Alison Rodriguez (Albany, NY) tacked on an eighth-place showing in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. The 4x100-meter relay team took eighth place, and the 4x400-meter delegation nabbed seventh place. The highlight of the day came for the 4x800-meter relay team, which placed first, three seconds ahead of second-place Bowdoin College. First-year Kristine Morin (Litchfield, NH) wrapped up the women’s day with a fifth-place showing in the heptathlon.
Junior Janak Chandrasoma (Pasadena, CA) broke the ice for the Amherst men, securing fifth place in the 200-meter dash. Sophomores Jack Morgan (Las Vegas, NV) and Dave Molina (Cleveland, OH) posted fourth and eighth places in the 800-meter run, and junior John Stanton-Geddes (Glendale, MO) came in seventh in the 1,500-meter run. Sophomore Mike Page (Fargo, ND) grabbed sixth in the 5,000-meter run. Both the 4x100- and 4x400-meter relay teams finished in seventh place to finish the Jeff day.
