Rookie Goaltender Lynch Named NESCAC Player of the Week
February 10 - Amherst first-year goaltender Sean Lynch was named the NESCAC Menís Hockey Player of the Week on Monday. The rookie netminder tallied 27 saves, 15 of which came in the third period, in Friday night's 4-3 Little Three Championship clinching win over visiting Williams. He then finished with 22 saves on 23 shots in Saturday's 1-1 tie with visiting third-ranked Middlebury. Full Story

Jeffs Tie Third-Ranked Middlebury, 1-1
February 8 - The men's hockey team skated to a 1-1 tie against visiting NESCAC foe Middlebury College Saturday at Orr Rink. With the tie, the Jeffs move to 6-11-3 overall and 6-7-2 in conference play, while the third-ranked Panthers go to 16-3-1 and 13-1-1. Full Story

Jeffs Take Little Three Crown With 4-3 Victory Over Williams
February 7 - Sophomore forward Beau Kretzman netted a goal with less than three minutes remaining in regulation to give the men's hockey team a 4-3 victory over visiting NESCAC and Little Three rival Williams College Friday night at Orr Rink. With the victory, the Jeffs - who downed Wesleyan University, 7-4, earlier this season - take the Little Three crown and improve to 6-11-2 overall and 6-7-1 in league play. Full Story

Jeffs Rout St. Anselm, 6-1
February 1 - After falling to New England College on Friday, the men's hockey team rebounded with a 6-1 victory at ECAC East foe St. Anselm College on Saturday. Junior forward Mike Kreger and sophomore forward Beau Kretzman each notched a pair of goals, while rookie netminder Sean Lynch turned aside 39 shots for the Jeffs. Full Story

Jeffs Downed at New England, 5-2
January 31 - After rallying for a 5-4 victory over Massachusetts College on Saturday, the men's hockey team was downed at ECAC East foe New England College, 5-2, Friday night. With the loss, the Jeffs fall to 4-11-2 overall and 4-7-1 in league play, while the Pilgrims improve to 11-5-0 and 8-4-0. Full Story

Jeffs Snap Four-Game Skid With 5-4 Victory Over Mass. College
January 25 - The men's hockey team rallied to snap a four-game losing streak with a 5-4 victory over visiting ECAC East foe Massachusetts College Saturday afternoon at Orr Rink. First-year forward Steve Nelson notched three goals to pace the Jeffs, while junior forward Nick Cote also turned the trick for the Trailblazers. Full Story

Men's Hockey Losing Streak Continues, Jeffs Fall to Skidmore, 7-3
January 18 - The Amherst men's hockey team dropped its fourth consecutive game, falling to visiting ECAC East foe Skidmore College, 7-3, Friday night at Orr Rink. Sophomore forward Nate Smith notched a pair of goals while junior Joe Ziolkowski dished out three assists to lead the Thoroughbreds to the victory. Full Story

Men's Hockey Drops Third Straight, Edged at Southern Maine, 5-3
January 18 - The Amherst men's hockey team dropped its third straight game on Saturday night, falling at the University of Southern Maine, 5-3. Trailing 3-0 midway through the third period, the Jeffs rallied to knot the score at 3-3 with goals by reigning NESCAC Player of the Week Scott Aldrich, Ted Bickel and Brad Craigen. Southern Maine junior forward Chad Lauze notched the game-winner with just under three minutes remaining, however, and tacked on an empty net goal to seal the victory shortly thereafter. Full Story

Jeffs Downed at Salem State, 10-4
January 17 - The men's hockey team was downed at ECAC East foe Salem State College, 10-4, Friday night. First-year forward Ted Bickel paced the Jeffs with a goal and an assist, while senior defender Erich Schram and rookie forward Steve Nelson each chipped in with a pair of assists. Full Story

Jeffs Fall to Hamilton, 8-2
January 14 - After salvaging a 3-3 tie at Trinity College on Saturday, the men's hockey team fell to visiting NESCAC foe Hamilton College, 8-2, Tuesday night at Orr Rink. Junior forward Jeff Corey paced the visitors with a goal and three assists, while senior forward Brett Farson notched a goal and an assist to lead the Jeffs. Full Story

Aldrich Named NESCAC Men's Hockey Player of the Week
January 13 - Amherst sophomore forward Scott Aldrich was named the NESCAC Menís Hockey Player of the Week on Monday. In Friday nightís 7-4 victory at Wesleyan, Aldrich scored the first two goals in a 7-0 Amherst flurry as the Jeffs rebounded from an early 2-0 deficit. He added another two goals in Saturday afternoonís 3-3 tie at 14th-ranked Trinity, including a dramatic game-tying tally with just two seconds left in regulation. Full Story

Jeffs Skate to 3-3 Tie at Trinity
January 11 - Sophomore forward Scott Aldrich tallied his second goal of the contest with two seconds remaining in regulation to help the men's hockey team salvage a 3-3 tie at NESCAC foe Trinity College on Saturday evening. The Jeffs move to 3-6-2 overall and 3-2-1 in conference play while the Bantams - ranked 14th in the nation - went to 6-2-2 and 5-0-1. Full Story

Men's Hockey Snaps Three-Game Losing Skid with 7-4 NESCAC Win at Wesleyan
January 10 - Junior forward Mike Kreger broke a 2-2 tie with his fourth goal of the season - Amherstís third during a run of seven unanswered goals after falling behind 2-0 - to lead the Lord Jeff men's hockey team to a 7-4 NESCAC win at Wesleyan University on Friday night. Amherst snapped a three-game losing skid, improved to 3-6-1 overall and 3-2 in conference play and moved into sixth place in the NESCAC standings with the win. Full Story

Jeffs Edged at Elmira, 5-3
January 4 - The men's hockey team was edged at non-league foe Elmira College, 5-3, Saturday night. Senior forward Dean Jackson paced the hosts with three goals and two assists, while junior forward Pierre Rivard netted a goal and dished out four assists. Full Story

Jeffs Stumble at Fourth-Ranked RIT, 5-1
January 3 - After falling at 11th ranked SUNY Plattsburgh on Tuesday, the men's hockey team was downed at fourth-ranked Rochester Institute of Technology, 5-1, Friday night at Frank Ritter Arena. Junior forward Josh Hoffman notched the lone goal for the Jeffs. Full Story

Jeffs Blanked at Plattsburgh, 5-0
December 31 - After a 24-day break, the men's hockey team was blanked at No. 11 SUNY Plattsburgh, 5-0, on Tuesday night. Chad Kemp paced the hosts with a goal and two assists. With the loss, the Jeffs fall to 2-4-1 overall while the Cardinals improve to 6-2-3. Full Story

December 7 - After falling to top-ranked Norwich University last night, the men's hockey team rebounded with an 8-0 victory over ECAC East foe St. Michael's College Saturday afternoon at Orr Rink. Jeffs Fall to Top-Ranked Norwich, 7-4
December 6 - The men's hockey team fell to top-ranked NCAA Division III and ECAC East foe Norwich University, 7-4, Friday night at Orr Rink. The Jeffs jumped out to an early 2-0 lead but were unable to withstand the offensive pressure put on by the Cadets. Sophomores Kurtis McLean and Paul Mattucci each tallied a goal and three assists to pace the visitors while sophomore forward Beau Kretzman notched a hat trick in the losing effort. Full Story

Men's Hockey, Trinity Skate to 4-4 Tie in Ben McCabe Tourney Invitational
December 1 - After losing their first-round games on Saturday - Amherst 10-0 to Wentworth and Trinity 8-3 to SUNY Oswego - the Jeffs and Bantams skated to a 4-4 non-league tie in Sundayís Ben McCabe Menís Hockey Tournament consolation game at Amherstís Orr Rink. Sophomore center Beau Kretzman paced Amherst (1-2-1) with two goals and an assist, while sophomore forward Ryan Stevens netted a pair of third-period goals for Trinity (2-1-1), which entered the tournament ranked 14th nationally. Jeffs Fall to Wentworth in First Round of Ben McCabe Invitational,10-0
November 30 - The men's hockey team dropped its home-opener to non-league foe Wentworth Institute of Technology, 10-0, in the first round of the 2002 Ben McCabe Tournament on Saturday. Junior Alex Marinkovich, sophomore Shawn Metheral and first-year Nicholas Legare each tallied a pair of goals and an assist for the visiting Leopards. Full Story

Jeffs Steamroll UMass-Boston, 8-1
November 23 - Sophomore forward Beau Kretzman notched four goals to lead the Amherst College men's hockey team to its first victory of the season, an 8-1 rout of ECAC East foe UMass-Boston Saturday afternoon at Clark Athletic Center. Sophomore Jon Hill also chipped in with a goal and a pair of assists. Full Story

November 22 - The men's hockey team opened its season on the road with a 4-1 loss to ECAC East rival Babson College on Friday night. Junior forward Chris Mansfield and sophomore forward Brett Adamczyk each tallied a goal and an assist to pace the Beavers. Full Story

November 18 - Coming off a trying 2001-02 campaign, the Amherst College men's hockey team, which opens its season Friday night at ECAC East rival Babson College, will look to a crew of youthful, yet experienced, returning players to once again challenge in the NESCAC and on the national level.
