Volek Leads Jeffs to Ninth Place Finish at 30th-Annual Lou Flumere Invitational, Hosted by Bentley

STOW, MA - Senior co-captain Jude Volek (New York, NY) fired a 78 on Thursday - including a sizzling 38 on the back-nine - to lead the Amherst College menís golf team to a ninth-place finish at the 30th-Annual Lou Flumere Invitational, hosted by Bentley College at the Stow Acres Country Club. Volek tied for ninth place individually, just two strokes behind Babsonís Fabio Silvagni and Harvardís Andrew Klein, who posted matching rounds of 76 to claim medallist honors.

Amherst sophomore Justin Sharaf (Danvers, MA) shot a similarly impressive 79 to tie for 15th, while senior co-captain Todd Ballaban (Thousand Oaks, CA) finished 38th with an 83. Sophomore Mike Valentine (Topsfield, MA) and rookie Keith Zalaski (Simsbury, CT) tied for 88th place with matching scores of 95.

Williams College claimed the team title with a team score of 312, followed by Harvard (315) and Babson (316).

Amherst returns to action this Saturday and Sunday for the District 1 Championships, hosted by Williams.
