Flockerzi Named AFLAC Assistant Coach of the Year by Scholastic Coach & Athletic Director Magazine
April 22 - Amherst menís basketball and softball assistant Luke Flockerzi has been named a winner of the Second-Annual AFLAC National Assistant Coach of the Year Award, as chosen by Scholastic Coach & Athletic Director Magazine. Flockerzi was selected from a field of more than 350,000 assistant coaches across the nation and is the only collegiate winner from the state of Massachusetts. Selections were based on nominations from head coaches, athletics administrators and past and current student-athletes. Full Story

Zieja Named ECAC Men's Basketball Player of the Year, D3hoops.com Honorable Mention All-America
March 27 - Already named the Northeast Region Player of the Year and a First-Team All-American by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), Amherst senior forward Steve Zieja (Hadley, MA) was voted the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Player of the Year and a D3hoops.com Honorable Mention All-American earlier this week. Zieja Tabbed NABC Northeast Region Player of the Year, First-Team All-American
March 21 - Amherst senior Steve Ziejaís trophy case is overflowing with postseason accolades. Already named the NESCAC Menís Basketball Player of the Year, First-Team D3hoops.com All-Northeast, First-Team All-NESCAC, First-Team Academic All-District and NESCAC All-Academic, Zieja was tabbed the Northeast Region Player of the Year and First-Team All-District by the NABC on Friday. As one of eight regional player of the year recipients, Zieja automatically qualifies for First-Team NABC All-America honors and is a finalist for NABC National Player of the Year consideration. March 19 - NESCAC Menís Basketball Player of the Year and Jostens Trophy National Player of the Year finalist Steve Zieja was named First-Team All-Northeast Region by D3hoops.com on Wednesday, as selected by sports information directors from around the region. Zieja, a senior tri-captain forward, led the Jeffs to a school-record 24 wins and their first trip to the NCAA Elite Eight since 1994. Full Story

Men's Basketball Ends Season at Williams; Jeffs Fall 91-75 in NCAA Elite Eight
March 15 - Four games against the third-ranked team in the nation is a lot to ask in college basketball, yet that was the position 11th-ranked Amherst found itself in when it traveled to Williams for an NCAA Elite Eight showdown on Saturday night. After splitting a pair of tough battles during the regular season and falling to their archrivals in the NESCAC Championship game, Amherst succumbed to the tenacious Ephs 91-75 at Chandler Gymnasium, spoiling a trip to their first-ever NCAA Final Four and ending their season at 24-5. Jeffs Advance to NCAA Elite Eight with 74-68 Win Over Fifth-Ranked Rochester
March 14 - For the first time since 1994, the Amherst menís basketball team is on to the NCAA ďElite EightĒ, thanks to Friday nightís 74-68 win over fifth-ranked defending sectional champion Rochester. Senior center Pat Fitzsimons led the way with 16 points, 13 rebounds and a game-high eight blocks. The Jeffs improved to 24-4 with the win. They'll take on sectional host Williams - 74-68 winners over Hamilton College - Saturday at 7 p.m. with a trip to the NCAA Final Four at stake. Full Story

11th-Ranked Men's Hoops Set for Marquee Matchup with No. 5 Rochester in Friday's NCAA Division III Sectionals, Hosted by Williams
March 13 - The NCAA Division III Menís Basketball Sectionals are finally here and 11th-ranked Amherst is set to take on fifth-ranked Rochester Friday night at 6 p.m. at Williams College. The winner will meet either Williams or Hamilton for the sectional championship Saturday at 7 p.m. with a trip to the national semifinals at stake. Get the scoop in this full game preview.

Men's Basketball to Play Fifth-Ranked Rochester in Friday's NCAA Sectionals, Hosted by Williams
March 10 - The NCAA Division III Menís Basketball Championship Tournament is down to 16 teams and sites and times for sectional play were announced this morning. Amherst (23-4) - which advanced to the Round of 16 with Saturdayís 84-60 second-round win over visiting Southern Vermont College - will travel to Williams College to take on the University of Rochester (23-3) Friday at 6 p.m., followed by an 8 p.m. sectional game between host Williams (27-1) and Hamilton College (23-5). The winners will meet Saturday at 7 p.m. with a trip to the national semifinals - held March 21-22 at the Salem (VA) Civic Center - at stake. Full Story
