AMHERST, MA - Senior tri-captain defender Hilary Zwerdling (Shrewsbury, MA) dished out four assists in her final regular season game at Orr Rink as the Amherst College women's hockey team skated past visiting non-league foe New England College, 7-1, on Sunday afternoon. Sophomore forward Tory Serues (Cambridge, MA) and first-year forward Ellie Roe (Edina, MN) each netted a pair of goals for the Jeffs. Amherst junior netminder Heidi Alexander (Edina, MN) recorded 13 saves while Pilgrim first-year goaltender Evelyn Forst (Loudon, NH) finished with 49.

The Jeffs would score a trio of first period goals en route to the victory. Roe tallied her first goal of the game 6:37 into the period ripping a wrister from the slot into the top corner of the net, off a feed from Zwerdling. First-year defender Alicia Pichard (Potomac, MD) took a pass from Zwerdling and blasted a slapper from the point on the power play for the second Amherst goal. Shortly thereafter, Serues stuffed a rebound into the back of the net, giving the Jeffs a 3-0 advantage to end the opening period.

New England first-year defender Megan Tepper (Chichester, NH) fired a wrister from the slot over Alexander's shoulder 6:11 into the second period for the lone Pilgrim goal. Serues stuffed in another rebound on a 5-on-3 power play with one second remaining to put Amherst ahead, 5-1, heading into the final period. Jeff sophomore forward Alison White (Brookline, MA) took a beautiful cross-ice feed from Zwerdling and slid a wrister past Forst to round out the scoring. With the victory, Amherst improves to 6-12-1 overall and remains in fifth place in the NESCAC, while New England falls to 1-10.

Amherst returns to action Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Holy Cross.
