Entering her 24th season at Amherst and 12th year at the helm of the women's golf team, head coach Michelle Morgan and former head coach Tracy Mehr have helped mold the Jeffs into one of the finest Division III programs in the nation, guiding the team to 10 Massachusetts State Championships, five New England Championships and a Division II-III National Championship in 1990. Along the way, Amherst teams have produced seven All-Americans, three Academic All-Americans, six NCAA Open Championship qualifiers and an unprecedented three-time Division III National Champion in Amy Hooks '91.

Morgan was a standout field hockey, basketball and softball player at the Colorado Women's College before graduating in 1974 and later gained valuable experience as a teaching assistant and three-sport coach at nearby Smith College. She earned a master's degree in Physical Education in 1976. After a brief stint as the Director of Athletics at the Vail Deane School in Hillside, New Jersey, she moved to Amherst in 1978 and has since coached women's squash, basketball, lacrosse and soccer in addition to golf. Morgan also works as a professor of physical education and athletics and currently serves as the athletic department's Senior Women's Administrator.
