2001-02 Amherst Women's Basketball Milestones

TEAM ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
*Finished with an 11-12 overall record (2-7 NESCAC), narrowly missing out on the eighth and final spot in the NESCAC Postseason Championship Tournament.
*Won the Goombay Shootout January 3-6 in Nassau, Bahamas, with a pair of wins over Colby-Sawyer College.

INDIVIDUAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

Sophomore Guard Shannon Russell (Shrewsbury, MA)
*15th in the nation in three-point field goals per game (2.7).
*10th in the NESCAC in scoring (12.3 ppg).
*Fourth in the NESCAC in three-point field goal percentage (33.0%).
*Hit a school-record eight three-pointers against Clark University on December 8.
*Named Tournament MVP at the Goombay Shootout in Nassau, Bahamas, after leading the Jeffs with 15 and 14 points, respectively, in a pair of wins over Colby-Sawyer College.

Sophomore Forward Sarah Bergman (Shaftsbury, VT)
*Second in the NESCAC in rebounding (9.1 rpg).
*Second in the NESCAC in blocks (1.2 bpg).
*Currently tied for second among Amherst's all-time blocked shot leaders with 74 through three seasons, behind junior Sarah Walker's 138.

Senior Guard Hallison Putnam (Lexington, KY)
*Tied for seventh in the NESCAC in assists (3.0 apg).
*Tied a school record with eight steals vs. Wellesley on December 6.
*Graduates ninth among Amherst's career assists leaders with 146 in four seasons.

Junior Center Sarah Walker (W. Hartford, CT)
*Tabbed NESCAC Winter All-Academic.
*Broke the school record for career blocks with 138 (and counting) through three seasons.
*Finished the 2001-02 season as the third-leading rebounder in Amherst history with 705 career rebounds through three seasons. She is now just 132 rebounds shy of Kathryn Hersey '99's career record of 837.

Junior Center Caitlin Farrell (Lafayette, CA)
*Currently fifth among Amherst's all-time blocked shot leaders with 68 through three seasons, behind junior sophomore Sarah Bergman's 74 and junior Sarah Walker's 138.
