Jeffs Snap Six-Game Skid With 76-55 Win at N.E.C.

Senior Hallison Putnam poured in a career-high 21 points on 7-for-12 shooting
HENNIKER, NH - The Amherst College women's basketball team outrebounded undersized non-league foe New England College 60-32 on Friday night, snapping a six-game losing streak with a 76-55 win in Henniker, NH. Sophomore sharpshooter Shannon Russell (Shrewsbury, MA) led the Jeffs with a game-high 23 points, while senior guard Hallison Putnam (Lexington, KY) poured in a career-high 21 points on 7-for-12 shooting. Junior forward Sarah Walker (W. Hartford, CT) rounded out Amherst players in double figures with 12 points to go along with a game-high 15 rebounds.

The Jeffs trailed for the first 14 minutes before taking the lead for good on a layup by sophomore forward Sarah Bergman (Shaftsbury, VT). Amherst led 39-27 at the half and outscored N.E.C. 37-28 in the second period, evening their record at 9-9 overall. Senior Jenny Bronson (Morgan, VT) paced the host Pilgrims with 19 points in defeat. The win was Amherst's first since a 64-59 victory at Babson College on January 10.

The Jeffs will look for their first conference win of the season Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. at NESCAC rival Trinity College.
