NASSAU, BAHAMAS - After a pair of losses at Clark University and the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, Amherst (6-3) snapped a two-game losing skid with a pair of wins over Colby-Sawyer College at the Goombay Shootout in the Bahamas over the holiday break, downing the Chargers 38-32 in a low-scoring affair on January 3, followed by a 46-35 victory on January 6.

Sophomore sharpshooter Shannon Russell claimed Tournament MVP honors by leading the Jeffs in scoring in both games, pouring in 14 points in the opener and 15 in the finale. She was the lone Amherst player to reach double figures in the Bahamas, although sophomore forward Sarah Bergman was a terror on the boards with team-highs of 12 and seven rebounds, respectively, in the two games.

Amherst was bolstered by the return of junior quad-captain forward Sarah Walker, who played (and started) her first two games of the season after spending the fall semester studying abroad. Walker scored four points and grabbed seven rebound in her first game back and played 43 total minutes in the two games.
