Jeffs Fall to Middlebury, 16-5, in NESCAC Tournament Semifinals

MIDDLEBURY, VT - The fourth-seeded Amherst College men's lacrosse team was downed by top-seeded host Middlebury College, 16-5, Saturday afternoon at Youngman Field. Junior middie Matt Margolis (Short Hills, NJ) tallied a goal and an assist to lead Amherst. The Panthers will now move on to the NESCAC Championship game to be played Sunday at noon.

Middlebury tallied a trio of unanswered goals to take a 4-1 lead at the end of the opening quarter. Middlebury's Matt Dunn notched his second goal of the game, extending the Panthers advantage to 7-4 at the half. The hosts recorded seven unanswered goals in the final quarter to seal the 16-5 win.

Amherst first-year goaltender Cushing Donelan (Noroton, CT) finished with 10 saves, while Panther goalie Eric Kreiger turned away 16 Jeff shots.

With the loss, Amherst falls to 9-7, while Middlebury will enter tomorrow's championship game against either Bowdoin or Colby with a record of 13-1.
