AMHERST, MA - The Amherst College men's lacrosse team downed visiting NESCAC and Little Three rival Williams College, 12-8, Saturday at Hitchcock Field. Sophomore attackman Mike Allison (W. Nyack, NY) paced the Jeffs offensively tallying four goals and an assist. First-years Alex Casertano (Millbrook, NY) and Andrew Syfu (Hobart, IN) also each chipped in with a goal and two assists.

The Jeffs drew first blood when Syfu tallied his only goal less than six minutes into the first quarter. Amherst would add four more goals in the opening half, giving them a 5-3 advantage at halftime. The hosts then tallied five unanswered goals to put the game out of reach. Junior Chris Condlin (Baltimore, MD) ignited the barrage firing a shot into the back of the net.

First-year goaltender Cushing Donelan (Noroton, CT) finished with 15 saves for the Jeffs, while sophomore Baemen Vertozev (West Islip, NY) turned away seven Amherst shots.

With the victory, the Jeffs improve to 8-6 overall and 5-4 in conference play, while Williams drops to 6-7 and 4-5. Amherst returns to action Sunday at 2 p.m., hosting a first round game of the NESCAC Championship Tournament against visiting Tufts University.
