Women's Outdoor Track Grabs 12th at New Englands

Emily Lobsenz took third in the 10,000 Meter Run

SPRINGFIELD, MA - The Amherst College women's outdoor track team finished in 12th place out of a strong 27-team field at Friday and Saturday's New England Division III Track and Field Championships, hosted by Springfield College. Amherst amassed 29 points on the two-day meet. Williams College came out on top with 163 points, and the host Pride notched 17 points.

Several strong finishes paced the women. The 4x800 meter relay team flew to a second-place finish, and senior Amie Shei (Lexington, MA) tacked on more points with a fifth-place run in the 400 meter dash. First-year notable Carter Hamill (Richmond, VA) finished eighth in the 1,500 meter run, and senior distance runner Emily Lobsenz (Fairfield, CT) pulled through for a third-place score in the 10,000 meter run.

First-year phenom Lee-Jay Henry (Springfield, MA) felt right at home on the Pride track. Henry's fifth-place performance in the 100 meter hurdles hit the scoreboard coupled with a fourth-place mark in the triple jump.

This weekend, the women will join the men's outdoor track squad at the Open New England Championships at Northeastern University to conclude their regular-season campaign.
