Men's Golf 14th at Williams Invitational

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA - Coming off last weekend's ninth-place showing at the Duke Nelson Tournament at Middlebury College, the Amherst College men's golf team traveled west to Williamstown for the Williams Invitational on Saturday and Sunday. All told, the Jeffs placed 14th in a 21-team pool, with a 319-310-629 performance. Host Williams won the tournament, with a 293-290-583 total.
Individually for the Jeffs, senior captain Mike Blaisdell (S. Strafford, VT) set the standard with a 79-76-155 total on the weekend. Next up, junior Jude Volek (New York, NY) posted a 78-78-156 mark, and junior Todd Ballaban (Thousand Oaks, CA) racked up a 79-79-158 outing. Rounding out the Jeffs were first-years Justin Sharaf (Danvers, MA) - who worked off a an 83-stroke performance on Saturday with much-improved score of 77 on Sunday - and Mike Valentine (Topsfield, MA), who shot an 82 on Sunday.
Amherst returns to action next weekend for the NESCAC Tournament, hosted by Williams College. Following that, Amherst will host the Toski Invitational, on October 7th and 8th.
