Men's Golf Takes Williams Spring Challenge

Junior Jude Volek shot a 37 on the back nine to finish tied for 15th individually

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA - The Amherst College men's golf team grabbed the top slot out of a field of 13 at the Williams Spring Challenge at Taconic Golf Club on Sunday. The Jeffs shot a combined 305 (+21) to edge the host Ephs who took second place with a score of 308.

Senior Mike Blaisdell (South Strafford, VT) paced Amherst, shooting a two-day score of 38-36 (+3), good for second place. First-year Justin Sharaf (Danvers, MA) followed him up with a fourth place performance, shooting a combined 75. Junior Jude Volek (New York, NY) and first-year Mike Valentine (Topsfield, MA) each fired scores of 78 for the Jeffs. Middlebury's Damon Gacicia notched the top individual spot with an even par tally of 71.

Amherst returns to action Monday for the Palamountain Invitational hosted by Skidmore College.
