STOW, MA – The Amherst College men's golf team opened its spring slate with a fifth-place showing at the 29th Annual Lou Flumere Massachusetts Intercollegiate Championships, hosted by Bentley College at the par-72 Stow Acres Country Club. Paced by junior Jude Volek (New York, NY), who shot a scorching 36 on the back-nine to finished third individually, the Jeffs shot a team score of 325, placing them just one stroke behind fourth-place finisher Bentley.
UMass-Dartmouth and Williams College finished in a dead heat for the tournament-lead with matching 316 totals, but UMass-Dartmouth came away with the title after scores of each teams' fifth individual finisher were compared as a tie-breaker.
